Assisi charm

Basilica di San Francesco...
One of the symbols of Assisi and European pilgrimage. Christians of all over the world visit this place. I visited it more of interest, than of religious purpose. And this place totally deserves to be visited. I do not know how, but the people of Assisi, and all the people, staying behind this town managed to preserve it absolutely intact and free of advertisements, all sorts of banners. No billboards, nothing modern at all. You walk in the streets and dive in absolutely different era. I tried to think of a place, that has preserved it outlook and is close to its original state, but nothing really came to mind.

This basilica, which is is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Order of Friars Minor Conventual is part of the UNESCO world heritage site since 2000. It was built in 13th century and since then it is the most distinctive landmark of the whole area and Assisi itself.

You cannot really imagine how peaceful of a place Assisi is. Not only the old town, behind the city walls. The other part of the city is very neat and beautiful too. I absolutely loved the place and maybe this was the one, that impressed me the most during my summer trip.
