Stars 2020-01-17 copy.jpg

Clear nights seem to be few and far between, this winter. So when one came, I headed out for some astrophotography. I thought this scene would work well, but to my dismay, when the sun set, the light pollution was so bad that I could only see about four stars with my naked eyes. You can see how the bridge was lit up, just from ambient light. I used the camera's built-in interval timer to shoot, over about two hours. Meanwhile, I waited nearby, out of the wind and kept moving to stay warm. The next day, when I processed the images, I was pleased to find that the 30-second exposures had picked up quite a few stars.
