Banff National Park - Lake of the Louise

in photofeed •  7 years ago

Many moons ago, and a few years ago I had the opportunity to travel to Banff (or bamf) National Park. The day started off super sunny, and hundreds of people were crowded around Lake Louise. We decided to take a day hike to explore what all we could, and get away from the hordes of people. A few hours passed, and by the time we had gotten to our hiking destination the clouds started rolling in so we opted to start heading back to our car. Many hours later our skin and clothes were nicely hydrated with fresh rain water when we arrived at Lake Louise again. But this time there were literally two people out there other than us. The rain didn't really bother us anymore, since we didn't have to wade through throngs of people just to see the beauty that is Banff. Louise was pretty rockin' after that.

Well done! Love the moodiness. As pretty as Lake Louise is, the mountains are a little awkward for composition, the way the glacier is really set back deep in the V of the surrounding peaks. Your foreground helps with this. Thumbs up!

Thank you! Yeah, it's an uneven V, but at least there are things to distract from that :) have you been out there?

Yes, a few times - one of my favourite areas of the country. I was just there in September and November.

Like this one. Those red canoes are incredible against the blue. I think they did it on purpose so people would take pics ;)

Haha yeah, I think you're right. But hey, I'm not complaining :)

Banff is on my bucket list for this year! Thanks for reinforcing that I want to go there :-)

The red really pops in the black and the greys.

That place is a dream isn't it?

Truly an amazing spot. I was constantly blown away on our hike with how it changes but still has the overall same feel. And the color of the water. Crazy! Did you go down the Ice Highway?

Cant wait to get up there this summer. Are there any spots you could recommend?

Definitely go to Lake Louise. That's the hotspot of all activity there, but it is truly a gorgeous place. There are a few hiking trails off of that. Also kind of depends how long you'll be there, but there is a road going north from there called the Ice Highway which is also an amazing drive.

Ive heard of the Ice Highway, ill check it out. Ive been up to Lake Louise in the winter, just not the summer.

Such a beautiful place, isn't it. Great capture! I can hear the rain falling

Yes, the water color just adds to the entire experience. Amazing place.

Very nice place! Thanks for sharing!!

Amazing scene! Thanks for photo. I would like to go there someday..

It's definitely worth it! You won't regret it.

I'm sure of that! I hope I can go there oneday :)

Gorgeous! My sister is in Banff skiing at the moment and I'm super jealous, this photo doesn't help. Even in the rain it looks stunning!

Ugh, I'm jealous too! The only place I've been skiing (well, snowboarding) is a little "hill" near Columbus Ohio area. It's...real bad. I need to get to a real place soon! Banff would just be incredible.

That's a beautiful photo! I love the color of the kayaks, I love the water, and I love the mountains! Breathtaking view.

I wish I could take credit for all of those things, just happy I was there with a camera to capture it all :)

Bamf picture dawg! Those canoes are poppin'.

Actually, they were rather still!

woow, well captured💖 the red cover soo pick up well :D

Thank you!

your so welcome 💖

Do you ever come up to Northen BC?

Close to the border is about the highest I've gone, unfortunately.

If your up in Alberta this year let me know

Looking like Minnesota is gonna be the closest I'll be to there this year, unfortunately.

Hmm. Flat and cold . Not sure that's my ideal place for a photo trip !

Ha, right? My friends help operate a camp up there, so I'll be visiting for a few days shooting material for their website etc. Should be fun!

I have driven the drive from minneapolis to duluth. So that’s what I base my opinion on being flat and cold. I am sure with a bit of looking and local
knowledge there are lots of cool things to do around there.

I've only been to Minneapolis, but only for an evening during my music days. I know they have some great hiking areas with lots of lakes and such. No mountains or anything, but nice Midwest scenery. They are northwest of Minneapolis

I love this photo. The converging sightlines from both the mountains and the reflection, the complementary color scheme, the red canoes as an accent. It’s terrific. Also a testament to how my ch of landscape photography involves being willing to go places and endure conditions other folks might not welcome.

Thanks man. You really should have come with us! Who needs marriages and stuff like that that's ultimately much more important?

Me.

But I want it all.
