Wanders through The Valley of the Waters - Blue Mountains

I love this type of setting it reminds me so much of being a child and playing games like hide and seek in the local creeks around where i grew up. They weren't as lush as this but my imagination made up for that.

I find it saddening that this day and age children aren't really allowed out to play in these environments as much as they were when i was growing up. I returned recently to one of the creeks i played in as a child and found it overgrown with nearly no tracks going through it. This to me was a sign that kids didn't really play there anymore. Even though it sits at the end of a street full of houses. To my friends and myself this was the ultimate playground, we could swim in the waterholes, hide in caves, swing from and climb trees. We always came home in one piece.. well sometimes a scratch here or there but that was all a part of the experience. It taught us to trust ourselves and that we were trusted.

I feel like children are so bubble wrapped these days or they are to busy sitting in front of a computer screen or Tv that they don't ever think to explore the local area. OR maybe they do and i just don't see it but just looking at my own brothers and sisters.. the younger ones seem to spend a hell of a lot more time on their computer devices than outside in nature or even at a skate park!

Being overly protective of our children is only going to shelter them from the real world and to me that is nothing but weakening them.
