How cool are these rocks!

This photo was taken in Kangaroo Island, one of the great wilderness destinations in Australia. I'm no expert in geology, but the orange colour seen on these rocks is actually a lichen from the family Hymeneliaceae. Lichens occur as a result of a symbiotic relationship between algae and fungus, the algae provide food for the fungus through photosynthesis. Does anyone know more about the geological formation of these rocks?

We hope you like it.
