Great American Eclipse 2017
On August 21st, 2017 the United States experienced the Great American Eclipse. A total solar eclipse crossed over the entire country starting on the west cost and ending on the east coast. The entire continental US was able to see at least a partial eclipse if not the total solar eclipse. I took my family to central Idaho to be in the path of totality. This is where the moon blocks 100% of the sun. That means that the sky will go dark, stars can be seen in the sky, and a sunrise can be seen in all directions. This effect only lasts a few minutes before it goes away.
I was able to get two different shots of the eclipse.
The first is a effect that occurs right before totality. Baily's beads effect is where the uneven surface of the moon, the mountains and valleys on the moon block the sun unevenly for just a few seconds, it creates small bright edges on the moon.
The next effect comes when the moon completely covers sun. In this stage you can view the sun's corona. The corona is plasma gas that surrounds the sun and can only be viewed during a total solar eclipse.
Being able to view a total solar eclipse was such an amazing experience. Words can't describe the feeling you have when the sky goes dark at high noon.
Have you ever had a chance to view a Eclipse? What did you think?
Great photos, Brandon. I sure did have a chance to view this Eclipse, and thanks to all your help and time brainstorming, discussing and distilling the required camera settings and lenses and all the gear and paraphernalia required, I was able to take some photos I'm really happy with. Going to post my story about that soon! :D

The one where you can see purple and pink on the rim is my favorite.

Wonderful shots! We've got a Super-Blue-Blood moon in Australia this week! Super moon on a blue moon and it's a lunar eclipse!

We get a bit of that in North America- are you getting the total lunar eclipse there?

Yeah on Wednesday night. It'll be a blue moon and a supermoon during the eclipse. I think with these conditions some people might spontaneously turn into werewolves...
