10 days of reflection — day 10 — diamonds in the snow

snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things,
but just look what they can do when they stick together

I wondered about the diamonds in the snow. Where were the colors coming from? And it came to me—the snow was reflecting the world outside it. All of the colors from the sun, the sky, the neighborhood and shadows.

Such a delightful and totally mesmerizing image @countrygirl. Wonderful to have captured the energy of the snowflakes all coming together.

Most likely the rainbow colours are a result of the surroundings being reflected but I like to think that each snowflake has a colour and as they unite they form myriads of colours.

I've seen bubbles of rainbows as the morning light hits the dew drops on blades of grass and that can be absolutely exquisite but I've never seen rainbows on snow like this before. SO beautiful. Resteemed. 🌀❄️🌀

I like that thought - each snowflake having it's own color. It's very difficult to capture these on a camera - I know the mist you are talking about too - I've never been able to catch it well.

Maybe some things are for our eyes only. Which is perhaps not such a 'bad thing.'

Yes. I like that!

What a wonderful comparison you chose. Well said. I love your reflections. So true. I wish more people we so open to the world. : )

That's so sweet @seareader!. Thank you. I see your rep number go up....nice!

Yes it did go up. It was a nice surprise today. Thank you very much @countrygirl.

Thx for nice shot. Very simple and rich at the same time, wow ... I like it very much!

Thank you Jana...I just left you a message on your intro post.

That's so cool!

Thank you.....I see you have a new avatar....you look marvellous!!! lol

You're welcome!

Haha, I'm glad you like it. I've changed a little. 😂

So pretty. You managed to capture the diamonds twinkling in the snow....

I have been trying to capture this for a while...finally got some success. Thanks @cecicastor.

Interesting shot! I like how the out-of-focus sparkles came out, in particular. It almost looks like splashing water!

Yes....I thot it looked like dish soap bubbles a bit....!

We had one of those cold dry sparkly snowfalls recently and I tried to capture the sparkles, without success. You did it so well! That is beautiful!

I caught it the next day when the temperatures went up a bit, enough for a little melt and meld. I have been trying for a while to capture this kind of thing so I can't say I know what I did, I just know it was the right time and lighting. :) Glad you enjoyed it!

You did it well! I tried at night. I could see it with my eyes, but my camera couldn't!

That's what I kept doing too - figured if my eyes could see it, then the camera would see it 100x better....nope. It has a mind of it's own :)

You very often take snow shots @countrygirl, I am very happy to see it because in my area there is no snow.

Yes, we have snow from around December to the end of March...sometimes into May depending on the weather factors.

It must be hard to imagine if you've not experienced the cold temperatures nor felt snow. It is similar to the frost that builds up in your freezer but softer and not as compact (sometimes it is). When it falls in big flakes it's beautiful.

Here I just feel the dew in the morning, never snow. I've seen it since childhood on television while watching a cartoon movie about snowman. Hehehe

That's a sweet memory. Dew is beautiful too.

And snow photos that you often show, often remind me of those sweet memories @countrygirl.

Nice. It looks like it has detergent in it. Beautiful.

For sure....I thot so too. Thank you!

I just checked your blog....holy schnikies....you are very talented photographer!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Amazing!

Thanks!

So pretty! I would have guessed it was glitter.

It's the glitter that makes the shot for sure. It's an ice party :)

I would never thought of snow reflection.
Bravo...

I'm tricky this way :) It does look like soap bubbles, but I promise it's snow !

You actually caught some nice ones here! My snow always comes out flat looking.

Try shooting around an edge where you have shovelled - those parts get a bit crunchy and icy . That's what I did anyways. I don't know if it was a lucky shot or if I could even catch it again! I couldn't see the colors with my eye but the camera sure picked up on it and of course I enhanced the color a bit.

I enlarged your photo and I can see so much glitter and a soft sheen.
