a corona kind of day

You probably thought I was going to talk about beer. Nope. Sun flares.

I watched these two jets streaming towards each other. The sky was clear blue and I thought the contrast with the white would make for an interesting shot.

Once the files were uploaded to LightRoom, the unseen sun rays and flares became part of the art. A very unplanned but welcomed surprise.

The color was not how I remembered it - as clear sharp blue. Instead a sea blue-green hue appeared, most likely from the rays and flares acting like a prism. I'm not entirely sure but this sounds reasonable to me.

The one giant flare provided a hoop for the jets to move through.

Do these photos look like underwater shots to you?

We shall find peace.
We shall hear angels,
we shall see the sky sparkling with diamonds.

That did make for a cool effect!

goood work. loved it!

Thank you!

@countrygirl you really captured a beautiful shot today. It does indeed look like this picture is taken under water, especially this blue. Is is still so hot out? We're having daily rain, so this blue sky is welcome! The Terri Guillemets quote is perfect! :) Cloudacious! lol

It is humid.....72 but felt like 90 and sunny, yes. Tonight and Friday we get your storm Alberto. How did you fare through it? You're on the Gulf side I think.

Isn't Cloudacious a great word?

Melts the heart surprise, right? They're beautiful xoxo

Hey @immarojas! Thanks! I love surprises, yes.... :)

Yeah..i know u do😊 More of those girl!

"Take evasive action!" I assume they know what they're doing, but one never knows. It's not often you see jets that close together, outside of an air show.

I find that my camera sometimes messes up the auto white balance and takes a little subjective correction. It looks interesting green, but it's possible the tint was mis-calculated. If you want it to be more blue, try bringing the tint value up to about +30 (ish) in Lightroom :-)

Your lens flare is interesting, especially in that second photo. Have you tried taking photos of really bright lights in the distance to see what kind of star patterns it makes? That could be fun. Every lens handles flare differently.

I know!! John was worried they were going to crash which is why I was taking photos, just in case. No not really. But yes, they looked really close - I wonder how far is close to them?

The white balance - I believe I have it on 0 and no auto balance. I wondered if the yellow from the sun changed the blue to green...I know that might be dumb but??

I did try to bring the temp to the bluer side of things but I found that ultimately the blue didn't look like the clear blue sky I remember. The tint is at 32.

No, I haven't tried taking photos of bright lights.....what exactly do I do?

I get stars in my eyes just before I get a migraine....does that count?? :)

Haha! Well migraines are no fun. I get visual ones, which don't hurt but mess with my already bad vision.

Ah, that's pretty high already, but tint balances green /magenta, so if you need to "degreen..." It could be the color blending like you say, though. Either way, I like green :-)

When I take photos of extremely bright streetlights in the distance, sometimes I get flare stars. My ultra wide angle lens makes a strange starburst.

That's with the ultra-wide.

Migraines are terrible. I've experienced the "painless" kind as well. My eyeballs feels very strange and jiggly and I get vertigo. The pain ones though are really special. Thankfully I don't get them as often as I did when I was younger.

I love the flares personally. It's like a surprise :)

I'm glad I don't get the painful migraines... I have a friend who has emergency medication for when hers strike.

Flares can be a good thing. I like how my 24-70 lens creates little pincushions, sometimes.

The clean blue sky, the sun flares, and the contrails make for spectacular pictures, Deb. I love them.

I thought you might. Thank you Dan.

Oh wow these are so awesome!!

Thank you!!!

Very cool!

Yes...thank you @aweber. It was one of those surprises we get later. I looks very unearthly.

Our earthbound perceptions of distance are probably quite different from the reality! They were probably miles apart. What a beautiful photo!

I hope they were!! lol.....I remember flying home from Florida years ago and there was a military plane flying beside us.....it made me a bit worried as to why.

that is the only time I've seen a plane from a plane. I wonder if these two could see each other.

I've seen planes from planes usually much higher or lower. I seldom worry about anything while flying, since I know I am totally powerless anyway!

so very true :)

WOW. a perfect minimalist photograph. I love this composition and colors!
very nice. dreamy!

Yes dreamy....that's what I thought too. Glad you like them @artizm.

What is that big artifact in the middle? :O
