a little gold, a lot of glitter

A little drive in the country never hurts. In fact it usually boosts my spirit. We've been happily enjoying the milder temperatures and the promises of springtime.

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.
And there was evening, and there was morning--the sixth day.

I love windmills. This one is not a working one but looked at home along the pond where I was walking. I caught a glimpse of a distant farm through its vanes.

The willow branches looked like a spider web as the sun set behind the trees. The sun painted a beautiful gold halo on the inside branches.

no longer to carry rain or usher storm,
but to add color to my sunset sky.

Thank you for posting @countrygirl.

Such lovely photographs and the accompanying scripture, commentary and prose were thought provoking and delightful.

All the best.

Cheers.

I'm glad you liked them @bleujay. Thanks for stopping by and giving me your input.

The last shot is crazy cool. The organized chaos of those branches is madness. And your framing rocks!

Really? Thank you Lisa. I was so self critical of that one. I knew what I wanted to capture because it was amazing in that moment and reminded me of pulled taffy or a spider web spotlighted by the sun. I was so excited to see it I had to tell the swan that was close by - even though he was telling I was too close and to back off....hehe.

Indeed! Think Spring!! It has to come eventually!

It certainly must!

Beutiful photos dear, but this time I prefer windmill 😊.

Yes!! I like it too!! Thank you!

Love these beautiful moments and subtle details you captured. The warm glow in the still-chill weather feels so comforting! :)

I couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you!

It is indeed very nice to see some places. It is refreshing to me. I am glad that you get to have a warmer weather and would be able to stroll around. :)

Me too!! I think I'll probably get out again tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by @bhabykat.

Someday when I grow up, I hope to be able to "see" like you... I just love how you visual arts folks "see" the world. Color, shape, form, depth of field... so cool... so very cool!

So funny you say that. I have been feeling so inadequate. I'm glad you like them @genxrev. Your view of the world is needed too. Each joint supplies. I can't pray the way you do or write psalms or or or. But I can make a picture with the camera that can inspire you to pray. ?? Something like that. :)

Oh yes you can!!! absolutely something like that... you keep snapping and bringing to light the ravishing creation we inhabit. And as for the "inadequate"... just stop it. ;)

(I'm not usually this directive... believe it or not)

You capture beauty and that is something much needed. So snap and shoot and edit and allow us without the eye's
to
"see"

aw..thank you. I guess I need a little boost today (or kick in the butt). You know what it is? I figured it out. I think I am in a place of growth. I want to do better so, like a kid, I'm frustrated with my skill level. So it's a good place, just uncomfortable.

I'll keep on snapping and let you interpret and behold.

Thanks Rev.

The other day I came across another Steemian reflecting as he wandered in the woods... one of his quotes was “I think I want better boots to walk in”- it came to my mind as a prayer... maybe those times of growth are the times when we begin to realize that we just want some better boots to walk through life in... something a bit more adequate, more spacious, better support... as you say all good things, but until the boots are first found and then secondly broken in, definitely uncomfortable -here’s to new boots all the way around!

Great metaphor. I like it. Thanks!

Beautiful photos! I love all of them!!

Thank you Mrs Robinson :) Hope all is well with you.

Beautiful. Definitely great to be able to get out and about again. Of course, I'm from SoCal, where it never really gets that cold, anyway. :P

hehe....ya....it gets very cold here. Thank you for stopping by.

As always, the pleasure is mine.

Late light at the golden hour - the last pic reminds me of the halo produced by angel hair on a Christmas tree. Beautiful

Thanks - you're right it does remind me of that too!!

I'm glad there are still others who like to drive just to get away from it all. I like to drive until it's all forest and no people. I really like the first photo, the depth of field is really nice, and "the promise of springtime" is exactly what it looks like.

I hope country visits never go out of style. No matter the weather, it's always nice. Thanks @joleenwillis.

Beautiful shots!

Thank you. I appreciate your input!

Really nice shot!! I love the first one ;)

Thank you so much @asgarth!

Beautiful pictures, the light is perfect, good job!!

Thank you very much!

Great shots! but that last photo is Amazing !! How it captured the sun right in the middle of the branch's, almost like a circle with its dot in the middle. It was great, mixed with the dark shadowing the photo is truly great !

Glad you like that one. Thank you for your lovely words.

Nice photos, wish it was spring here!

Me too! Thanks for liking my photos!

Pretty shots!

Thank you so much @vtravels. :)

I agree, spend some times in the country boosts the spirit! ^_^ Your pics are really beautiful (I also love windmills, but here we don't have them)

I like the country when it's quiet and it's just me and the birds or other little animals around. I like it when the sky is clear save a few clouds and it's cool outside where I'd need a sweater and maybe gloves.

Glad to hear you like windmills. I hope to be sharing my musical theater prop windmill with you and Steemit in the not too distant future... :D

And I agree with @outrayjust about your last shot of the branches...

😄😇😄

@creatr

Oh thanks @creatr re the photo. It was so amazing in person. I tried my best to take a shot of what it looked like....the camera always has other ideas.

A musical theater prop windmill?? Can't wait to see what that's about.

The light, the bokeh, and the colors in the first photo are just perfect! Did you take it during the so-called golden hour? And as Lisa said, the framing in the last one is really cool 😊

I did take it during the setting sun - which you saw a bit later through the willow branches in the last photo. I was seeing blobs of light for a bit after - I have to be careful with the sun through my viewer - yeesh. I think the first photo could have been a bit sharper - my eye isn't sure where to focus. I love the color though. Thanks for your comments as always Dan. :)

My pleasure, Deb :) I thought you shot the first one at f/1.8 with your new lens, but then I checked the metadata where it says f/5. Anyways, I think it's quite difficult to keep everything in focus when taking close-ups of such plants.

I know about the f/5. I don't get it. Must have been the setting I had it on. I'm still learning and need to write this stuff down and then just go out with that setting to see how I do.

Yes, the metadata shows the body and lens settings at the time the shot was taken :)

It looks like you're putting the 50mm through it's paces! That willow does look like a spiderweb. If I ever see a web that big, though, I'm going to turn around and walk away slowly... Really nice job with the focus on the first photo! Nice soft, pastoral color, too.

Any tips on how I could have done better on the third one? I tried different angles but I'd lose the light from the sun on the branches. The photo didn't turn out like I wanted or how I saw it.

It definitely gets the idea. I thought it looked like a spiderweb before reading the caption! Back lighting is tricky, but it does help if you can get in a shadow. I don't think the branches were big enough to let you do that. The windmill was spot-on! Nice, crisp lines and that beautiful, defocused background. Nice job!

Thank you! That's exactly what I needed to hear....back lighting is tricky - I didn't know that....and you understood my dilemma of where to stand to get the light. Thanks for also mentioning the focus on and lines on the windmill - I did consciously think of that while shooting the picture.

Wonderful set together @countrygirl. Love the soft almost sepia tones. The last image: I've seen those beautiful circular effects: When there has been raindrops on bare thin brances at night with a street light behind, or fine branches of she-oaks with the morning sun behind. But NEVER been able to capture the magic of the circle that you have here. 🙏

Thank you so much @allinspirit. I'm a fan of sepia tones too. I was so excited when I saw the circular lights on the branches. I took a bunch of shots from different angles but they were either too exposed and the lights weren't captured or too dark and it looked like a blob. Photography is fun sometimes....lol

That's for sure. These circles of light are SO magical to see and such a challenging vision to try to capture on film. More than challenging ~ Virtually impossible. So you did super super well. 🦋

Aw...thanks @allyinspirit. I really appreciate that.
