animal farm friends

you would be much amused with the animals round the ranch
Theodore Roosevelt

A few days ago I walked around some farmland near an outdoor market. Along the road I made some friends. The swan followed me to the pond and stopped for a rest a couple of times — I think he was an older guy.

The animals I encountered were tame and curious, perhaps because the day was ending and they were settling in for the night.

As I made a complete circuit of the path, the light was changing and had gone from bright to dusk.

What a beautiful evening walk!

I feel as though I was there. Thanks.

😄😇😄

@creatr

It's a very nice spot not too far from our house - I could probably walk it but well, you know....I don't :)

such a lovely little tale - wished I was there but some things are better enjoyed alone and the presence of another might have spoiled the magic. Golden photos in failing light...

Looks relaxing and peaceful. Except for that goose...they're mean ;)

That was a swam you silly goose! They too can be a little overprotective...but this guy was too old and slow. He puffed up at me a couple of times so I gave him his space.

So it is! Still big mean bird... :)

It's good to see photos of animals in a Farmland like this. I've been living in a City where all I can see is tall buildings and lots of cars that gives nothing but the air full of dust. I am wondering how it feels like to be living in a town like this. Thank you girl for sharing such wonderful photos! :) Have a blessed day... :)

It is nice to see them, that's for sure. I used to live in the city too. Then we moved to the country and then moved back to a small town. I miss the country, that's for sure. But at least I get to visit places like this.

Thanks for visiting!

The color on the neck of the duck is something very special.
btw is it a lama pic 2? :)

I think so, there were some milling about in the fenced area but I couldn't see through those opaque walls. As you can see in the last photo with the sunset shining through, the silhouetted animal looks more like a cow or one of the small horses.

Those ducks were pretty aggressive that day. I think it was mating season. But yes, I agree, their color is amazing. I loved the purple especially.

a yes its cow and something, the it On the first picture, the neck is very long fore a small horse. its going to be unresolved mystery.

I went back and looked at my photos. I would say yes it was a llama in the first shot but the last shot with the silhouette it's two small horses, one has a head down (the back end one). That's my story and I'm sticking to it!! lol

Thank you for sharing a piece of ideal with these lovely photos.

Glad you liked them. Thanks for visiting. :)

Nice photos, I especially like the shots of the swan. I had to look up where Millgrove is because the name sounded familiar. This is in my old cycling range... I would leave Brampton and ride all through this area and down to Burlington, then back home.

Thanks so much Keith. We live just on the other side of Hwy 6 in Waterdown. So this outdoor market is a favorite place to go. It was closed and I had the whole place to myself to watch the sun go down and watch the animals get ready for nightime too.

That's a long bike ride. You must have a fabulous route in Victoria.

hope you don't mind, i see you want to learn photography.
You did that on some photos but i am not sure did you do it on purpose. With animals usually photos look much better if you are on their level. shooting from up standing position down on them most of the time gives a snapshot feeling.
Keep it up.

No I don't mind your input at all.

Just so you know what I did and tried to do. I did try to get on their level.

In the first shot I knelt down in front of the swan. So that one is probably okayish. But with the swan laying on the grass I couldn't get on the ground because he was getting hissy with me and I didn't want him to charge. I might have been near a nest although I couldn't see one. I can see how that looks like a snapshot - and I am trying to get away from that look.

I got down on the ground to capture the ducks through the fence. They were on an incline so I couldn't do better than I did unless I forfeited that shot. The photo of them in the pond also posed that problem. I don't know what else to do unless I took a photo further away at a better level - maybe with a telephoto lens.

The small horse - I got down and tried to focus on his eye.

Thanks @bil.prag. I really do appreciate your help.

i know sometimes it is what it is. That's why I wrote that i see you done it but not sure if it was consciously. for the laying swon telephoto would probably be better. you are thinking about it and that is enough.

Aw....thanks so much @bil.prag. I am very grateful for the input.

Beautiful photos! I especially like that first one with the bird. That evening light is really pretty. That last shot is spectacular, though, with the lighting. Very nice composition!

It looks like a great place for a walk, too. In another couple months, you could probably get some great photos of chicks there :-)

Thanks so much. It was so pretty there. And quiet. I was the only one left and the animals were getting ready for night time. I love the last shot and was happy to have captured it.

ok.i just had to save all these image on my device...great shots

Very nice post..
From this article we know that farming is the best way to make relation between man and animal. Here, where we can cultivate a great sense of love to nature.

Very nice

Thank you.

your most welcome my dear.

:) hey .. how are the swans, they are not frozen in the water
While I was looking at the photo, I was really cold: D
you've got very nice pictures again and you have a beautiful day!
congratulations :) hugs

No, the swans and ducks didn't freeze. I don't understand how they can swim in the water .... brrr. They were very cranky though - I think it's mating season so I had to be careful getting too close to their nesting spots.

Glad you enjoyed the photos. Hugs back to you :)

Great shots! I love thee colors on the ducks!!

Those ducks were amazing. Thanks!

These are beautiful, love the ones of the sunset, and so cute that the swan followed you! I spotted some bunnies in one of the shots too - I love bunnies, I have 2 and I just can't get over how cute they are!

The swan was pretty cute...he limped and waddled as if he had arthritis which is why I thot he was old. The bunnies were really pretty. It was strange too because they moved away from the shelter and crossed the road to the field across the street - I guess that's where their den was. I figured they'd hang out with the other animals.

Awww yeah he must have been old. Aww they must have a den nearby then! Such cute animals!

What a lovely collection of photos! I love them all :)

Thank you @erikah.

My pleasure !

"that man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest" it is really good quote...

You took wonderful pictures and had great day with the old guy swan :)

Thank you for sharing these pictures and your story with us and have a nice day my friend... :)

That quote is so true isn't it? I find the best times are when it doesn't cost me anything. I like simple living personally.

Thanks @mnallica.

What a wonderful place to take a walk! That last photo is soooo good! I really love it. The glow with the silhouette is just spectacular. I bet this place is super gorgeous when spring hits.

I know!! I got so excited to see it. I almost didn't snap a photo bc I wanted to just stare at it for a while - it was so beautiful. It was my last photo for the day.

Thank you, @countrygirl, this post was wonderful! You made marvelous pictures, every picture was like a painting.
I am still thinking about the quote you used from Rami. Once and a while you read a quote that really makes you think. This was one! Thanks for sharing.

Rumi said some very thought provoking things in his day. He seemed to be ahead of the times. It definitely is a good one to ruminate on.

Glad you liked the photos, thanks for your comment @clio.

Well, that was a nice little walk! Thanks for taking us along. I love that image of the sunset and the ice on the pond!

Thank you Diane. There was a lot to see on this small track. And the best part? It was quiet. I got a lot of different shots still to post. Some of them are of the structural greenhouses with the sun gleaming on them....and their long shadows reaching out. I don't like to post too many shots at once - I think this is the most I have done at one time.

Good idea. I think we lose the impact when we post too many. In fact, I prefer to post just one so that it stands alone, except in a post like this where I'm documenting something!

Exactly. I'm with you on that too.
