Making the best of bad weather - High Res

in photofeed •  7 years ago

Just last night I was shooting with a client and they were surprised that I wasn't phased by bad weather. In fairness it wasn't really bad last night at all, just cold and windy. Obviously some shoots simply aren't possible with certain weather types so that goes without saying.

I find theres something to be salvaged from almost any type of weather. It might not be what was planned, but with the right light, and some weather sealed equipment there should always be some type of shoot possible.

Like this example below with Steph. This was a few years ago, and we we had arrived at the shoot location when the weather turned on us almost immediately. Steph is such an amazing model she can just go with any situation and look amazing.

I was shooting with a D810 and weather sealed lenses so I wasnt worried about the kit getting damaged so we just tried shooting anyway to see what we could get. I think it turned out pretty well.

Thanks guys!

I am always inclined to say, put on a sweater, dear, if the weather turns! Are photographers cruel by nature? That's somebody's daughter there catching pneumonia!
Needless to say your photography is excellent and professional - you can tell because I always rant at magazines with fashion models poised in impossible settings.

Haha yep it's always possible. Admittedly some styling choices are trickier but there's always some options. My usual question from models shooting for the first time on location is "what if it rains". I give the same response every time, "Then we get wet". It doesn't change whether or not a shoot is happening.

Good thing that hair isn't made of candyfloss then!

Very cool. Really really like the 2nd one.
