Hoodoo Valley

in photofeed •  7 years ago

When was the last time you visited a new part of the world and thought "huh...well that's different!" Just when you think you have the world figured out, you unearth a new gem.

Nature always surprises us. My visit to Bryce Canyon National Park was one such occasion. All of those colourful rock pillars in the valley...such a strange sight! You could travel the world and never see anything like it anywhere else.

I wonder what unique sights are yet to be found. Humans have traveled most of the earth, but not all of it, and there are things hidden in the jungles and the wilderness that few people have seen. If you were one of those people, would you tell the rest of the world, or would you leave it for the next adventurer to discover?

The unique hoodoos of Bryce Canyon, Utah:

It's just a few kilometers away and there aren't that much tourists.

I have not been there! So much more to explore...

the most interesting thing which I saw was Gran Canarias... but WOW that landscape looks crazy! someday I hopefully will be there too :)

Never been to las Islas Canarias - it looks amazing though! :)

Another incredible photo @derekkind! Ok, if I was one of those people, I know I have a big mouth and some form of camera on me at all times. I would have a hard time keeping my mouth shut, it would end up as a steemit post...

Haha, yes, maybe me too...but I don't know that from experience. ;)

how many countries did you visit?

Five. :)

in which one did you enjoy most?

I like them all in different ways, but I'll say Iceland, because Canada and the US are like home to me, and I've spent more time in Iceland than any other foreign country. I would be happy to live in Iceland.

good

Hi, I started follow you few days ago, you had interesting comment on my brother's profile Czechglobalhosts and this snapshot displays my favourite place that I visited. But it is not hidden in the jungle;-) This location is close to Antalya- Turkey. This is old huge Roman city and there are no tourists! :-) enjoy you day, have a fun, be positive! ;-)

Hey @truestories, nice to meet you! That's amazing - I love ruins like that which tell a story from hundreds or thousands of years ago. Living in North America, we don't have such obvious signs of civilization, and I miss it!

Epic landscape

Thanks, mate! :)

Man what a crazy shot, those colors are really stunning! I just love the look of landscapes with different sediment layers like this... I took some photos in a place in Kenya that was somewhat similar to this, but much less grand!
DSCF6060.jpg

Oh yeah, that is rather similar! I love that kind of layered landscape. :)

What has it formed from do you know? Is it just erosion? I was looking at some photos I took at the petrified forest here is Australia today... this puts mine to shame!! ; ) However it's no where near as vast as this! Very impressive!!!

Wikipedia says it was "formed by frost weathering and stream erosion of the river and lake bed sedimentary rocks."

Hard to imagine... amazing!

Buen contenido amigo felicidades, me encanta la imagen.

This is a beautiful photo of Bryce Canyon National Park. I have been there twice and still remember the feeling of awe, that I had when I looked over this impressive Canyon.I remember I wished that the people who visited Canyon after me, would be there with the same respect for this place as we felt.

Thank you, @akinome! I wish I'd had more time there to appreciate it myself. :)

This is a place I also want to visit someday. Looks so surreal with all those stone pillars

It is pretty surreal! I hope you can visit all of the National Park in Utah - they each have something unique to offer. :)

I love this landscape! You really captured the colours! I was born in Colorado, and this area of the world (UT, CO, NM, AZ) has so much beauty! Now I live in BC, outside Kamloops, which has some hoodoos of its own. A friend and I did a photoshoot there, actually. ;)

I found you through @gabyoraa. Glad to meet you, @derekkind. :)

Nice to meet you too, Katrina, glad you found me through Gaby! :)

Between being born in Colorado and now living in BC, you must be spoiled - those are two of the best general areas of landscape on this continent, and indeed the world! ;)

I didn't know Kamloops had hoodoos though...

Kamloops has hoodoos, not like Utah, but they're still hoodoos. I live a bit out of town, up in the trees where it's not so dry. And yes! I am spoiled (and grateful for it). The mountains are in my blood. Love BC especially! :)

I visited Helmcken falls last fall, and enjoyed that drive up north of Kamloops, but sadly didn't have time to explore further!

I love Bryce Canyon! I'm going there with my kids in a few weeks. It's their first time going, I can't wait!

I love the picture I have from you on my wall of Bryce in the winter! Have fun with your kids! :D

Incredible photo of a fantastic place!!
You are so lucky to have the chance to travel to all these wonderful places and to be in touch with these energies!

Cheers.

Thank you, yes, I have been lucky to see as much of the world as I have. :)
