King Of The Hill

in photofeed •  7 years ago

Stunning views and beautiful atmospheric weather were the rewards for this morning climb in the Uintas. We didn't feel like hiking up this hill, and the clouds were questionable, but we went for it and it paid off with photos and memories.

Bald Mountain, in the Uinta Mountain Range of eastern Utah - that's Silver Lake at the bottom.
And no, I don't know that person, but I'm thankful for them standing there.

Tell me in the comments about a time when you did something you really didn't feel like doing, but looking back you can't imagine not having done it!

Hiking always has its beauty even if it's difficult! This one is an amazing shot. Hopefully, one day we will manage to go to Utah to enjoy the nature!

It's a beautiful state, I hope you can visit it sometime. :)

Last year I was contacted by a bride who was getting married and she wanted me to come and take some photos of her reception, and more specifically of a ballet routine she had prepared for the guests. I really didn't want to photograph it because the location was inside a church gym and I was sure the lighting would be awful, and I really wasn't sure what to expect for the dance routine.

Much to my surprise the bride was some master ballerina who had danced in San Francisco for decades and she was incredibly graceful. Plus the gym had some high windows that were south facing and the light coming in was like a spot light on her. It really was incredible how it all came together.

Here's a photo from her routine.

Well that's awesome, both the photo and the story! Thanks for sharing. :)

Wow, amazing! Your shot, the bride, and the whole story...

Awesome picture @derekkind.

Thank you, @gautam!

Getting up this morning. But I did it anyway. Probably for the best...

There's a person up there! Nice sense of scale

Yeah, that's how I feel every single day.

Haha, that’s what I was trying to say! And sometimes I can’t tell you apart from @derekkind, both awesome photographers from a huge country, with a similar sense of humor. :)

Kieran says "mate," I say "eh". ;)

(thanks Donica!)

😂 Here in Oz there are also people saying “eh”, not sure if it’s just Queensland or...
And I just saw your messages on Ins from 10 days ago... Sorry, I’m not used to their updated interface, so I didn’t see that icon.

Oh wow! So we're basically the same after all! :D

No worries - contacting you on Discord now, like I should have done in the first place. :)

Australians also say "or" at the end of questions a lot.
So are you going to upvote my comment or?
Do you want to go see a movie or?
"Yeah nah" is a favourite though.

Put them all together:
"Hey mate, do you wanna go see Steemit the musical tonight or?"
"Yeah nah, mate. I heard it's rubbish, eh"

What a great view :)

Yeah, it was unexpectedly good! I'd never been up there before. :)

Absolutely stunning!
And that person on the top - wow!
Wonder who that is??? They would fall in love with this picture!

Thank you! Yes, they might... I doubt there's any way of identifying them now though. :(

Great shot Derek...it took me a bit to find the guy over the hill :D

"Over the hill?" Are you calling him old? ;)

I wrote too fast and translate in a very bad english :)...change that with "up on the hill" :D

Haha, no, your English worked fine, it was just funny because it can have a different meaning as well. :D

Stunning picture! And one thing I really didn't feel like doing it is photography on a 90th birthday, but I took the pictures, and the family was so grateful. Now the same family comes back every year for family photos ... and I can not imagine that I would not do that, although I'm still not a real portrait / lifestyle photographer.

That's great, Hetty! And I understand because I'm not a portrait photographer either - that would not be a comfortable job for me. But sometimes it's more important to just do it, knowing that the family will be happy with it even if we aren't. :)

Hope you dont' mind for posting this photo in a reaction. But I felt I had to show you this photo. Father and daughter! Father his 90th birthday. The week before his birthday he was terrible ill and they were afraid he would die. But there he was, doing a slowdance with his daughter. A very emotional moment. And no, it's not the most beautiful captured photo ever. But the emotion and the moment is beautiful and will never come back.

Such a beautiful moment!

Oh, that's wonderful though, I'm so glad it turned out alright and you were able to get these photos. Thanks for sharing! :)

Wow! What a stunning view and picture. I think the last time I didn’t feel like doing something was a few weeks ago when my friends asked me to get off the couch, put something else than my pyjamas on and go out with them. We had such a good time!:-)

Haha, yes, I understand that. There's a book I've seen called She Got Up Off The Couch, and Other Heroic Acts.

Well so maybe that’s a book about my life haha

Haha, that person standing there is legendary.
I didn’t feel like commenting since I was going to have dinner, but looking back... I have seen these beautiful stories in your comments. ;)

Yes, funny how a tiny little person in the corner of the frame has such a big impact on the final image!

Haha, I see what you did there. ;)

I wish i was there, so beautiful!

Thanks, yes, it was nice! :)

AMAZING!!!

Thanks! :)

Remarkable photography! @derekkind
I dread every time I have to force myself to exercise on the elliptical machine, then feel the rush of dopamine "feel good" endorphins after I'm done -- that's my first example that comes to mind.
