It can be frustrating waiting on a bird to be in the right spot. A few weeks ago I had followed a group of pelicans to where they were swimming in the river. I found a spot on a peninsula that they had been flying over and stood there waiting. I thought it was a perfect spot because the sun was behind me and a great view in front of me.
About the time I started getting bit by ants all but two of the birds flew right over me and I missed it. I kept waiting for the last two pelicans but finally got frustrated and started to leave. Once I turned my back the last two flew over and I missed them.
Your patience definitely paid off in this photo.
