Enjoying Some Heights At Coastal Cliffs

in photofeed •  6 years ago

A little over a week ago I again needed a photo for a local Estonian photo contest. I needed a photo of an object or building in ruins. I decided to drive to Pakri where high coastal cliffs are located and on the edge is an old fire tower which is slowly falling down of the cliff due to erosion. Also, I wanted to spend time outside and take some photos anyway. Pakri coastal cliffs are located at northwest Estonia, you can always see the exact location when you click on @steemitworldmap comment below.

I have been there many times in my life but this is the first time I went there in the winter. Everywhere in Estonia is deep snow right now but to my surprise on the coast, there was little to no snow at all, probably it all blows away by the strong wind there is.

This is the old fire tower I talked about earlier. This one is built in the 1800s.

Usually, the water does not smash against the cliff wall down below but sea level was +40cm above the average. Usually, there is enough space to walk down there. It was pretty cool to see these crashing waves down there.

A photo does not quite describe the height you see with your own eyes. It is almost 40 meters straight drop there.
