Deep in the Forest

in photofeed •  6 years ago  (edited)

“And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul”. John Muir.

There is much to be said about wandering aimlessly in the forest. Once you head off the path, you need to start making your own choices, and living with the consequences of those choices.

I took this in MacMillan Provincial Park on Vancouver Island. British Columbia, Canada.

That photo is awesome, have you tried taking a drone into the woods? You can get some epic shots with them

No I don't own a drone. Perhaps next year.

Yeah they are pretty cheap now, the Mavic Spark is like £150...

Love picture

Thanks mate

Nice pic. I think Canada is the one of amazingly beautiful country in the world. Especially, BC Province it is. I stayed last month in Vancouver, the phenomenal scenic view made me more spiritually fulfilled. I missed the Canada.

Yes BC is beautiful.

Nice pic. Great! :)

Thanks

Beatiful image.

Beatiful image.

I love greenery as it refreshes my mind

;-)

Another awesome image. Reminds me a little of the rain forest areas of Far North Queensland here in Australia. Different trees of course, just the colours, the moss on that fallen tree...

Yep there are some amazing forests up in FNQ. I hope to get back there some time next year.

I used to live in Cairns for a bit so got around up there a lot. You ever been deep in the rain forest at night? Now THAT'S an experience.

Yes I did a few guided night hikes in Bolivian Amazon hoping to see some Tapir. No luck on the Tapir but we did track some prints for quite a while and also found some Jaguar prints which was a bit freaky.

It's primal, the rain forest at night, I think. I felt like I didn't belong there amongst the wild things. I'm not afraid of the dark but it was...Odd to be there after dark.

I trekked the "Kokoda Trail" in Papua New Guinea as well and got the same feeling.

Would love to do Kokoda one day; although I would be more tempted to climb Puncak Jaya

I'm into history (war history) so Kokoda was for that purpose, to pay my respects. It was difficult but then it sounds like you know your way around a hiking boot. I can highly recommend it. I don't know much about Puncak Jaya...Any hike is a good one though. 😀

Yes I would like to do it one day for that reason also. My brother did it a few years back. It is a tough slog by all accounts. Most of my knowledge of the history of the track comes from reading the Peter FitzSimons book about it.

if your into war history , I assume your a Dan Carlin fan .

Wow, that sounds fun!

Yes it was. I would love to go back and spend a bit more time there.

Wow so verdant. Ferns (and quote ha ha) remind me of Muir Woods just north of here. Wonderful photo and I love the writings of John Muir

Would love to get to Muir Woods !

Congratulations @intrepidphotos!

Oh, I love the John Muir quote, and the fabulous photo! It's as if the trees are bending down and reaching to their fallen comrade. Beautiful!

Thanks

This place must be included in my travel plan !! Really nice

A beautiful image @intrepidphotos. The coloring is great and the scene so well composed with the fallen tree trunk leading under the arch made from a tree branch.

Thanks

The fallen log creates a great focal point in a sea of green colours. Thanks for sharing it with the steemit community

Hello @intrepidphotos! I was checking what other Steemians are posting about Autumn vibes, forests and nature ... and came here : ) What a brilliant title - that's my favourite account name, which I used to use for my social media : )

Thanks

Place like this I'd be out looking for mushrooms :)

stunning photo! is there any leech there? o_O

Not that we saw but there probably is.

I doubt anything will be held to more honor than to lose yourself so aimlessly in the forest :) I'd gladly take that end...

Yes thats for sure. Something special about it.

John Muir what a hero would love to do his trial!!

For sure

Thanks mate and for the upvote.

Beautiful

I love this photo. I live in a bustling city now, but was an avid hiker in my prime days. Would love to be back in those times, wandering around trails. Love your work!

Thanks. Why the move to the city?

Work/money , the usual boring story.

The story of life ; how to solve that work life balance !

It is a hard one to get right. life is to short for the daily grind though

Soo deep, soo nice..
