Snow Moose

in photofeed •  6 years ago  (edited)

Snow has arrived in the Rockies and a young moose calf starts to experience its first taste of winter. Moose are the largest of the deer family by some margin; they stand up to 2.1 m (6.9 ft) high at the shoulder and the males can weigh up to 700kg. Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada

It stayed close behind its mother.

Amazing photos. I really like the fact that you shot both the mother and the calf in the same pose.

Them in the snow is so beautiful!

Yes its such a nice time of year when the first snow falls.

sir intrepidphotos! gorgeous photos! Those moose didn't know you were there or they didn't care?

I think it was more of the latter

howdy again intrepidphotos...oh how interesting, you guys have tame moose up there I guess. Is there a Moose hunting season? I wouldn't want them to have no fear of humans if it meant them getting shot.

well that is the beauty of the national parks. The animals loose their fear of humans in the parks. As soon as you leave the park if you see a moose or deer it is off into the woods before you can get your camera out.

oh ok very good sir, I understand. Did these just happen to walk by you at the right time?

Yes ; we were out looking for them. I was hoping to see a bull but no luck.

howdy again! oh you guys were out looking for them, I'm sure that's how you find the best photos. Wonderful job of getting them. It looks cold already.

It is cold up in the mountains yes. Has been as low as -14C (7F)

Moose is amazing creature! The first time I saw them, I can't really figure out how they look like. haha looks like a horse but when you get close what a huge different!lol. But, they look so beautiful especially with the snow in their background, so wild and free!

Thanks
