Stormy Sea and Australasian Gannet

in photofeed •  6 years ago  (edited)

An Australasian Gannet (Morus serrator) flying over a stormy sea off Muriwai on the North Island of New Zealand. These birds are plunge divers and spectacular fishers, plunging into the ocean at high speed. They mainly eat squid and forage fish which school near the surface. The Gannet colony at Muriwai is spectacular and amazingly close to civilization.

Beautiful bird and a great catch!

Thanks

Wow just checked you out and started following. Luckily there was a link to a bio in the first post I checked out :) I just bought a Canon 6D Mark II yesterday for my wife! We had a couple of lens that we haven't used in a long while so we bought a digital camera body that would accept them.

Nice. I currently use the 6D MkII ; its a nice camera and 90% as good as the 5D mkIV for 50% of the price.

We are amateur photography hacks so it was probably 50% more than we were planning on spending but we had a 28-55mm and a 75-300mm lens we wanted to put back in service :)

Nice

Nice shot.

Thanks
