Under a Green Sky

SolarStormVivianLake.jpg

A wide angle (14mm) shot taken in the forest looking straight up into the sky during a G3 solar storm at 54 Degrees North. Vivian Lake, Prince George, Northern British Columbia, Canada.

I have posted this up as part of Deranged Photography Contests - Paint the Sky contest run by @derangedvisions . Certainly the most amazing sky I have ever seen; it was pulsing green in every direction bright enough to see your own shadow.

AWESOME

Wow. Ethereal. And freaking spooky, depending on how you look at it.

Yes super spooky.

That is absolutely amazing! I wish I can see beautiful aurora like that!

Hopefully one day you will !

Ooh wow that's quite impressive, would have been really something to experience in person!

goatsig

Yes it was !

Looks like an alien invasion. Pretty cool. A sky in green color is something we do not see here.

Yes its quite special.

green sky

Indeed. Do you always just up-vote your own comments but not the post you are commenting on? Very poor form.

Beautiful, I can see hints of pink as well which makes it extra special. Reminds me of working in the Yukon. Thanks for posting.

Yes there was quite a lot of pink/red fringes on that night.

great photo

Thanks

Great picture! looks unreal

Thanks !

This is so beautiful - it makes me want to cry. I can't even imagine the rush of emotions that you must have felt.

pulsing green in every direction

I have a scene coming up in my story where there is an explosion of light in the sky.... (with your permission) maybe I'll have to tag back to this photo that they can believe me that it IS possible to see something so extraordinary and not EVERYTHING is fantasy/fiction ;)

and then again... i do like robbing the reader of everything but words - so that they're forced to use their own palettes to recreate the world I'm sketching for them. It seems to be so much more personal and valuable when their own minds fill in the gaps. hmmmmm decisions, decisions.... ;)

Thanks. Your more than welcome to use my images if you link them back to my page. It's true that ones own imagination can often develop images better than we could possibly produce in real life. I often find this with kids story books. That said if the story is not relateable to peoples own history; then images can help to seed the imagination.

I so agree... Often I'm so disappointed with the way that filmmakers portray books. I always want to write them and tell them.... You got it all wrong!!!! Lolol it was so much better in my head!!! Hahaha

Thank you for permission to tag back to your post!!! Not sure what I'll do , but I'll be sure to notify you if I do!!! :)

Hello and cognratulaitons! Your image was just posted as a winning one for the daily 7 World's Continent Photo Challenge. See if you can attend the post and answer some of the congratulation comments for your increased engagement. Thank you and have a great day. Tomas

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – North American Friday week #30 – winner announcement!

Thanks ! Appreciate it.

Wowza! What a sight!

Cheers mate. You have to get over here one day ...

Very nice capture! It sort of looks like someone light the scene with those green glow-sticks.

We don't get to see the northern lights much, where I am, but if I head about six hours north to the Boundary Waters, you can see them.

They are quite special when you do get to see them

Oh neat! You must be from Minnesota. I grew up in the Iron range and remember seeing them as a kid.

Green skies? Thank you for showing us this wonder of nature.

Thanks for taking the time to have a look and comment.

No doubt you are a wonderful photographer, excellent shot

Thanks

Miracle of nature!

Yes it is

Wow! This is mesmerising! I love your photos btw, so glad you commented on my posts, you have a new stalker...I mean follower... lol ;)

Thanks . You should try and see the aurora once in your life if you have not already.

It is definitely on my bucket list! I have lens envy too... My next lens has to be a wide angle lens hehe

I'm eager to see northern lights again! It's been a year for me.

They are surreal to watch. You need to come on a road trip to Northern BC!
