in photofeed •  7 years ago

Ok so this is the test to see how a huge panorama does here on Steemit.

UTAH PANORAM

I took this with a 35mm lens at sunset with a D800
It's a 15300 x 5000 panorama ... AKA 76mp

I really hope panoramas fair well here on this platform because I certainly take a lot.

Well, it's beautiful! And at least on Steemit you can click to make it bigger and fill the browser window and then manually pan.

But panos on a standard ratio monitor never look as good as they could.

I look forward to the day when we can view panos with a VR headset - because I have a ton of very wide panos that look just awful on the computer.

But that's a pretty scene! Is that up on the Squaw Peak Road?

When you click it Do you have to pan? Or does it resize to your monitor?

It sizes it to actual size, so I have to pan a little up-down as well as side-to-side. But probably every browser will handle this differently. I have a standard HD monitor.

woah that's interesting ... chrome handles it differently.
What are you using?

I wonder if it's different when i post from SmugMug

We'll figure it out next time I do that.

Ah, sorry, I was talking about when you click it the second time (which I always do).

Click it once and it opens sized to fit the browser, click it again and it does what I described above.

This is in Opera, which is based on Chromium.

oh good... most people aren't as advanced as you and I just wanted to make sure they got the first experience at least.

I'm gonna have to view this on my 5k iMac tomorrow at work!
Wonderful view!

so you're saying I should have posted it as a 5k image.... dangit I failed :(

Haha, still looks great on my 5K screen, as well as my 4K.

#HumbleBrag... and I love it! haha

Haha, I should add, this is my work setup, not my personal. I'm still on a lowly single HD monitor at home. :)

Such beautiful light in this one. And love the pano; Steemit is a good platform for them I think. They are lost everywhere else.

Yeah at least you can prompt people under the picture that they have the option to click and view larger right?

Looks pretty good! Beautiful light!

Oh yeah viewed small or the large view?

I didn't get any sunset clouds but that last light of the sun made up for it.
