Every year the local zoo opens its doors in the evening for their incredible light display. Visitors can walk around the zoo at night and bask in the festive feeling extravaganza. Pick up a hot chocolate, pour some maple syrup on snow, freeze your feet and enjoy :).
It's a great place to take kids and fun to burn a few hours wandering around. The feeling, especially around the holidays is pretty magical. The zoo does a great job.
Each part of the zoo has different themes. Some being traditional festive motifs and some more story driven. Below is an example of part of the snow white story brought to life within one of the pavilions.
I'm not usually a big fan of zoos, but once a year it's worth a visit - and if you're ever in Calgary around the holidays it's certainly worth the price of admission. Unfortunately it ended yesterday, but you can make a plan for next year....
