Melbourne's favourite Instagram location - A favourite for Steemit too?

in photofeed •  7 years ago

Princes Pier is Melbourne's "Wanaka Tree". Anyone that has a thriving Instagram account wants to collect this location and display it on their feed. I've been lucky enough to shoot it quite a few times and where it really shines is in a long exposure. Blurring out all the movement in the water really brings out the pattern and details of the pylons. This photo has clocked up nearly 2000 comments and 7000 likes on my Instagram (@kieranstoneau). I am running a competition on there to win a prize worth over $1000 so those numbers are highly inflated compared to my normal but it's still a pretty photo ;)
Will Steemit beat those stats?? I wish...

P.S. I'm not running there competition here too. Not yet anyway.

Snap dude. Digging the split colors between water and sky. Those big sticks in the water make a cool foreground too :)

It's come up a treat :)

That is a really cool photo. I can see why it has so many likes. Too bad all those people aren't on here.

They will come...

...maybe once Vero burns them all ;D

The photo is beautiful indeed! The texture on pylons is amazing.

I do like the contrast of the old pylons and the smooth water. It's what draws me to photos like this

I will get there one day. Once I get the frozen water from a coffee mug in the air Canada shot .

Bahahaha!

That's the only reason I moved to Canada. Once I have that my Instagram feed will be complete.

lol

Yes, I've heard that's a leading cause of immigration.

It’s the only way to deal with the low quality coffee here ;-)

It's the only use for the coffee. No one drinks it.

I'm going to literally lol when I see you post that picture

Hopefully we have one more deep freeze this winter !

Bahahaha! Careful...you're on thin ice...we know what kind of coffee you mean, and it's not okay to hate on it in Canada..

Ha. I am more referring to North American coffee in general rather than a specific Canadian love affair with a certain chain. Does that help if I insult a whole continent rather than a specific country ? There are a few bastions of light but it’s mostly darkeness.

Yes, that's much better! My family sell a gadget that unrolls the rim of Tim Horton's coffee mugs (for their annual contest), so I wasn't going to stand for any negative words about their coffee. ;)

Absolute stunner, mate! I’m sad I never got to take a good photo of this place

It's still there ;)

I've never thought of locations as something that could be collected. Instagram sounds like an odd place ;D The posts are really interesting (nice posts lol), I'm mostly captivated by the colours of the sky and the water in this one, biased somewhat as the sky is my favourite colour and the water is a really interesting looking shade that's complementing it nicely.

goatsig

Haha agreed, sounds strange to hear locations talked about like that!

Places and compositions are definitely collectables. Just look at all the similar shots on Instagram. Including posing like with the "follow me" holding hand POV shot, the freezing boiled water like @intrepidphotos is talking about, the standing somewhere holding your hat pose... Gotta catch 'em all.

Oh I totally agree that it's true, but that doesn't make it any less weird to hear! :)

Well it looks like you've already surpassed the earnings from that Instagram post... ;)

Beauty, mate! way to make the most of a scene, with those colours!

If only likes on Instagram were worth something. If they were upvotes it would be around the $70 mark (assuming average of $0.01 per vote)

They still have value, but only if the right people see your post!

Beautiful shot! I'll take $1000 in camera equipment please! ;)

awww, my competition is only open to AUS and NZ entrants. But you can still enter if you like :D

and thank you!

Haha well rats! I'll get em next time :)

beautiful photo !!

Thank you very much :)

Superb chromatic, again!

Thanks, Adelina!

Wow such a cool photo, love the colour of the water!

It looks nice but I wouldn't swim in it :)

WOW. extraordinary composition and long exposure

Thank you very much!

Mesmerizing picture. Love the way how the clouds make a movement illusion while looking at the picture. Though, I wouldn't want to do that with a hangover... :)

My picture of Sydney Opera House a few days ago has this illusion too, probably more so ;)

Oh man...this is amazing!! Almost a perfect capture in every aspect...good luck on beating the 7000 likes here on steemit :D

Maybe in a few years there will be enough people on here to get to 7000. Until then I'll be happy with 70 :)

Fantastic Image. Love how you brought the colours out.

Thanks a bunch!

Quite rad, I must say. We don't have anything like this, as I'm about as landlocked as it gets where I am. Kudos on having such great scenery to flex those photographically artistic muscles.

Australia has some amazing coastal locations to shoot. Plenty of inland jewels as well :)

Love the colours in this!

Thank you 😃
