In Which We Visit a Monument Under Construction

I recently got to take my first extended excursion into new parts of the country in order to capture Holy Places. I wandered into the Northeastern part of the United States, taking photos in places like Philadelphia, Long Island, Baltimore, Jersey City, and quite a few others. I hit 6 states including Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. And however you want to count it, a state or a city, I headed into Washington, D.C.

One of the places I've always liked best is the DC Temple. Latter-day Saint temples are among my favorite buildings to photograph. The DC temple is currently undergoing some extensive maintenance, so there is some scaffolding still in place, but we should see a reopening of this beauty sometime in 2020.

During my brief visit, I stepped into their Visitor Center to find mission volunteers beginning to prep for Christmas. The trees were up and are in the process of being decorated. I had to grab a few of the ornaments while I was there.

Hopefully sometime next year, when the temple is prepared to reopen its doors, I can make my way back and get a few more photos of this beautiful building.

Apologies, my word count said it was 202 words, and I thought 200 was the cut-off. Thanks for the clarification!
