The building in this image is the Pura Bratan, a major Shaivite water temple in Bali, Indonesia. The temple is located on the shores of Lake Bratan in the mountains near Bedugul.
The temple was built in 1633 and is used for offerings ceremony to the Balinese water goddess Dewi Danu, due to the critical importance of Lake Bratan as a source of irrigation in central Bali.
Lake Bratan is also known as the Lake of Holy Mountain due to fertile land in the area. It is located at 1200 m above sea level and has a cold tropical climate.
