Shot & Thought #29 - I could live by the sea... for sure!

in photofeed •  7 years ago

Hello my friends!

<><>

Today one of many thoughts I had during my latest visit in Scottish Highlands.

During last full day of my stay there, we traveled far north by the eastern coast from Inverness in south to John o'Groats in north.

Beautiful way among the huge plains ended in one side with high cliffs, falling down straight to the wavy waters of North Sea.
I was visiting Highlands 5 times already but never been in that area before - it is something totally different than mountain areas of Isle of Skye, Glencoe, Fort William and others - this one is more for somebody who like great open spaces - far horizon is opening really wide. Amazing spot for shooting night skies, clouds, rocky cliffs and all the weather phenomena around. I spotted amazing potential of this area and for sure will go back there for longer time. Unfortunatelly we had just a one day there and the weather was...sunny... :(

Just think how amazing this shot would look like with the heavy dark clouds behind...

And going back to the Thought of the post - I really could leave in such place - deserted villages and ruined houses in open spaces ander the huge sky, close to high cliffs, different shore line, always fresh breeze from the sea, to much air to breathe ;). Northern parts of the world are created for me - I feel good there, the same here in Norway...and the same thing I felt there, in northern Scotland. Something magical lives there!

That first shot looks kind of like the "Camelot" from the Monty Python and the Holy Grail :)

HAAHaahaaha, great comparison! I didn't think about that :)

Wow.... This place is so beautiful, I even just saw it. ,, great work

Thank You - it is beautiful - it has amazing photographic potential as well as the view itself is magical. High tower on the very end of a cliff... I wish I could see how the people lived there in medieval times.

That's a good idea, even I think what if I jump from the ocean from that height, huhh, must be very pleasant...

I am not sure if this wouldn't be Your last jump ;)... but maybe during really high tide... better not trying :P

lol, I think like that, but maybe it's a silly fantasy ...😅😅😅

Fantasy is a key to interesting life!

I wonder what it's like to actually live in a place like this? Not many people do.

Lighthouse keepers used to...

There are many strange and scary stories from the times when lighthouse keepers used to live in small islands north of Scotland... Now it is all computers inside there and maybe its good... I believe there is something strange in that part of the world, something unnatural... Thanks for comment!

The sea itself is unnatural...to us, anyway.

I do prefer cloudy moody days over sunny days for photography. Still a great photo though!!

Totaly true! Me too...but sometimes we just dont have a choice...

Well.... I just photoshop it in if I really want to 😂🤣

I could do it, but there are two things - first one - sometimes I like to experiment with blending photos, but after, even if the result is good, I still know what was it in reality, and the second thing - photo-manipulation on this level is not a photography for me, it is technique called photomontage and it is closer to graphic, not pure photography. In landscape photography I am more behind the natural scenery, even if its not perfect.

Yes I would definitely not label it ‘LANDSCAPE’ unless it was combined with something to demonstrate it was digitally altered!

Yes, indeed, I could called it My PhotoVision :).
