Shot & Thought - Aurora season almost over...

in photofeed •  7 years ago

This year's nothern lights season is almost over here in middle Norway. The summary is not great for me... :(. I have this feeling and the reasons to think that a lot more could have been done... but to the point.

  • The work - If You know that next day have to wake up after 6AM and then driving the car next 7-8 hours... it is a good reason to stay home and go asleep early instead of shooting lights somewhere outdoor until 1 am... safety first! But the feeling next day watching the photos made by Your friends from the same town - priceless....

  • The place - Good Aurora shooting needs to be planned, of course we can just go outside, shoot the lights anywhere, just to point the camera to the sky or making it together with yellow street lights or so... Yes, I have been doing that many years ago... now I am reaching little higher - to be somewhere, where surrounding area make the show really magical, to be in the mountains, in the good spot by the lake or sea, to have a nice motive in the foreground to compose the frame in interesting way. This kind of shooting needs traveling - traveling needs time, so I need to have a full night out to organize this kind of trips.

  • The reality - My family, which last year grows and I got an amazing son who is now my best and only light I want to watch, shoot and be with. Northern lights are amazing but having a baby is even more magical experience. First year is almost the hardest so I hope next year I will be able to find some more free nights to chase more Auroras.

For now, few chosen favourite shots taken last Aurora Borealis season...
