Today the spotlight falls on Jason Russell
This is Jason Russell ’s story:
Jason Russell is a fellow Steemian, and photographer living in south central Missouri, the USA in a small town of about 3000 inhabitants.
Not too certain when or how exactly his interest in photography came about, but Jason and his wife, Melody Russell (aka @melodyrussell) work as a team, and together they photographed their first wedding shoot in 2001.
Jason is basically self-taught. He watched videos, read books and experimented a lot. Melody Russell @melodyrussell took several college courses and shared a lot of information with Jason as well. However, his style of photography is ever-changing, as he is constantly experimenting, breaking all the rules, nonetheless producing wonderful images. Jason believes that there is always room for improvement and that he will probably never consider himself a professional photographer as there is always something to learn about photography!!!
“There are so many great tutorials out there to teach you anything you want to know!”
Jason, in 2003 bought his first Canon Digital Rebel and has been upgrading and buying equipment as and when it became a requirement for work. Before then and since he has done portraits ranging from Babies to Boudoir and just about everything in between!
Jason and his wife Melody share a passion for photography as well as the love of nature and travelling, and this becomes very evident when you see the photos. They love photographing weddings, music festivals, animals, flowers, fashion and landscapes, basically anything that presents itself as a potentially interesting photo.
They love travelling and seeing new things and documenting them the only way they know how i.e. capturing the moments and memories in time!
Jason favourite subject for photography is Model Portraits. Ever since he got his first digital camera they have had their friends over for fun photo shoots!
When Jason takes photos outside he takes along as little equipment as possible. He likes to use available light whenever possible!! Afterwards, if touch-ups are required he uses Lightroom for processing, trying to do a minimal amount of retouching to keep the images as natural as possible!
Jason heard about Steemit and the opportunity to share his photography and make some money on the sideline. This was just a little over a year ago. He joined and needless to say, stuck around and has posted just about every day since and came to love the little community he discovered here!! Today he also runs a weekly Portrait Photography Contest on the side-line which all Steem members are welcome to join.
“Practice!!! Taking bad pictures I think is the only way to learn to take good ones!”
and for sharing your awesome photography with us!
