Early Sunday afternoon I found myself bored while sitting at home. Which is honestly quite rare for me, I always have something going on or am working on something.
That boredom did not last long! I decided to hit a tunnel (That we have explored before) to play with some steel wool photos.
While taking the last steel wool photo, I dropped my lighter in the water. Quickly putting an end to steel wool for the day lol.
After making my way back out of the tunnel, I had a decision to make. Hop back over the fence by the entrance of the tunnel and wander the city looking for interesting things to shoot. Or follow the stream that feeds the tunnel, to the bay front. I picked the latter and began walking.
Within ten minutes, I was face to face with two deer. Don't you just love it when you make the right decision! lol
As I made my way further down the stream, head in the clouds over coming so close to the deer. I noticed that Cormorants where sitting on branches along each side of the water, lots of Cormorants. Groups or individual ones every ten to twenty feet.
At this point, I had to climb up a bridge and walk on a path beside the road. I remember thinking how cool of an afternoon it had been, but the afternoon was fading into evening and I was getting hungry. Should I head back home or just say screw it and push on? Again I picked the latter and am so grateful that I did!
The path broke away from the road and took me to the Cootes Paradise section of the bay. Now walking on a paved path, runners, bike riders, and the amount of people drastically increased. So I thought that encounters with wildlife where now going to be harder to come by, I was wrong.
Ducks and this Blue Heron where hanging out just off the shore.
The time was flying by! And before I knew it, the sun was starting to set. I got to a dock, sat down and set up my tripod. With hopes of a beautiful sunset to watch.
In the first shot of the sunset, you can see the light reflecting off clouds on each side. A very cool effect that I had never seen like that in person!
Could this day get any better? Nature answered that with a big hell yes lol The sunset continued to leave me in pure awe.
With the sun set and the path pretty dark. I finally decided to call it a day. Took some metal stairs up to road level and to this view of the north part of Hamilton Ont.
I don't care who you are or where you are on this planet. There is no reason to be bored! If you find yourself bored, get out. Wander a little bit (camera or no camera). You will be surprised at what you can find, how much it can lift your spirits and also what you can learn.
Thanks for the story accompanying the photos. Seems like you know what's up.
