When exploring the remote and beautiful part of the world in the summer time it is quite rare to see a sunset or sunrise - well, I should clarify that it is possible but most sunsets will around around midnight and sunrises occur at around 2am, which does make it difficult to see because I am really tired from working all day everyday whilst on the ship. However, as the end of the summer season approaches in March, so does the lengths of days, which means at a more reasonable time - around 9pm you are lucky enough to witness sunsets over the Antarctic peninsula.
It is in these moments you are stopped dead in your tracks and everything that might have been on your mind or any anxiety simply disappears. This mountain is actually called Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - as the largest of the mountain peaks is Snow White and there are seven small peaks next to it. This evening is forever burned into my memory
