It felt really good to get out of the city last weekend. I got quite lucky too. It was perfect spring weather in Mendocino County which is up North of San Francisco. The area is notoriously wet in the springtime and it actually rained the week after for five days in a row. So I was indeed lucky!
I took this 20 second long exposure only a few feet from the parking lot at the beginning of our hike in the Montgomery Woods State Natural Reserve, outside of Ukiah, which has a couple of wonderful Redwood groves. We had to cross this little stream and as soon as I got to the other side I knew I had to get the rig set up right then. It consisted of a Benro travel tripod which while not carbon is very light and small to travel but sturdy enough to get the job done. I mounted my Canon 5D3 onto it with a Sigma 20 Art lens and 2 stop ND filter. The day only got better from there!

during my hikes, I so love river and stream crossings. It refreshes my tired feet and I am just amazed by its platonic view. :)
Nice shot by the way! :)
