Big Boy Bison

in photofeed •  7 years ago

Just outside of Columbus is Battelle Darby CreekMetro Park. One of the coolest things about this park is that it features a whole herd of Bison for one's viewing pleasure. Bison haven't lived naturally in Ohio for over 200 years, but this gives residents a glimpse of what Ohio may have looked like when it was less developed and more wild.

The Bison at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park roam an expansive pasture area can be difficult to see depending what part of the park they are in. The last time I was there I was lucky to have a group of them right by one of the main visitor areas, so I had a great vantage point for taking pictures. It's remarkable how big individual Bison are when you see them in person, and it's awe inspiring to think about how powerful a whole herd of them thundering across a prairie would be.

Are there any parks near you that have interesting animals, either wild or domesticated?

Feeling wild life in the middle of modernity must be great.. You are so lucky to catch the moment. Cool content and also brilliant photos. I am following you... Thanks for sharing.

Wow. Nice photo shot. You are a good photographer.

I didn't even know there were some there. I wanna go!

They still look almost prehistoric to me. We have the bison at Waterton, the moose around Kananaskis and the elk in banff (just posted). My fave are caribou...but they're tough to spot. Or mountain lions....but if you spot those you're probably hurtin'

Beautiful

What camera you used?

I don't remember I've ever seen bison that is not in the zoo...
Probably wouldn't we fun to be too close to them :)
On safe distance, yes!

Great shot
