Lookout Mountain

in photofeed •  7 years ago

This is the first of a few sets of pictures from my vacation in Arizona last week! After getting off the plane in Phoenix, my wife and I had some time to kill before the rest of the family got there, so we went and did a nice easy hike around Lookout Mountain near Scottsdale. The area around Phoenix has such a unique terrain and landscape, and while it can't compare to the grandeur of the Rockies or other mountainous areas, it is still a really beautiful and fun area to explore!

This hike was around 2 miles long and only had about 400 feet of elevation, so nothing too strenuous, but there was a still great view of Phoenix from the top! After months of dreary and wet Ohio weather, it was so refreshing to stand on top of a mountain surrounded with warm rocks, sunny skies, and a warm breeze to boot.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the hike! These were all taken with a Fuji X-T20 and an 18-55mm kit lens.

I love your photos!! regards!

The desserty colours! These are so good and so different from my own AZ shots. I liked Mountain Wife... .all these people that complain about not finding a Significant Other, just need to go up the nearest mountain. The higher you go the better the wife. Easy.

Lonely Catcus is so good. I love that waving guy.

True! Thinner air brings out the best people! Easy as that haha.

Thanks dude. He's waving and saying "Hey @aussieninja, can you come snuggle with me? I'm looking for a little spoon. Thanks."

I really like the color in the mountain. Sure it doesn't match the rockies, but those desert reds are pretty nice!

Thanks! Yeah, that's true. Definitely very different than anything I've seen before!

Only if you have been in the deepest valley, can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.

Profound and well said.

you deserve a gift of being production, this is seen from your posts , the're ever organised, thank you

That is always a treat when coming from somewhere cold in the winter to be able to go for a hike in shorts. Having grown up in Cleveland and spent most of my life in snow country I finally just gave up and moved to Southern California LOL

Haha for sure! Such a welcome change! Psh, Cleveland's beaches weren't good enough for you? ;)

when I lived there the river caught on fire all the time LOL... But i did a lot of sailing in the Erie!

Haha fair enough! I can see why that wouldn't be appealing :)

Amazing travel moment which you have captured excellent photos. Really this photography impressed me. Thank you for sharing this post with us.

@yumyumseth, would you like to be a judge in the Simple Sunday (minimalist photography) Nature Photo Contest this week? :)
See more info about the contest at these links:
https://steemit.com/photofeed/@shadalene/introducing-the-nature-photo-contest
https://steemit.com/naturephotocontest/@shadalene/mountains-photo-gallery-1-mountainsmonday-winners-trees-tuesday-contest-open

For sure! Sounds fun! Just tell me what to do :)

Great, thanks! :) I would need the judges to do two things: (1) make sure (as much as possible) that the the photos are original, and (2) come up with a list of the best 10 photos (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, + 7 honorable mentions) sometimes during the day following the contest and email them to me at [email protected]. I will then publish a post that day with the results. Would also like a short "bio", just a sentence or two about you so I can use to introduce the judge. Could you send me this at [email protected]? The judge receives 20% of the winners announcement post payout.

So just go to the Sunday post after 9 PM and send you my 10 best? Should I send the bio at the same time or do you want that earlier?

I'd need the bio by Saturday evening as I'll use it in the Sunday post when I announce the theme (and judge). I've actually extended the deadline to 9:00 am the next (so 24 hours submissions time-frame), so that is when the contest will close and then you can evaluate the entries. You can send me the list anytime on Monday, as long as I can post the results the same day. :)

Great! Sounds good! I'll send it by Saturday :)

You've got a good eye, sir! Especially the shot of the bird. Well done.

Thank you Mr. Mutton Chops! Much appreciated.

Great shots, I love the lonely cactus!

Thank you very much! Maybe you can go be its friend? :)

Awww yes I will be his fried! :)

These are great! I'll be doing some work in AZ next year. So excited to check it all out.

Ooh nice! That's awesome! It's a really cool area, though apparently really hot in the summer haha. Where in AZ will you be?

Great stuff dude, looks like a fantastic place to explore!

Thanks man! It was a good time. The rocks are really rough/grippy which makes them really good for climbing around on and all that fun stuff.

Beautiful photos Seth, I really like the third one :)

Thank you! You're too kind!

Wow the suburbia looks almost as baron as the mountain top!

haha yeah! It's some strange terrain!
