Photo Friday: Blue Jays In A Snowstorm

in photofriday •  6 years ago  (edited)

We had a snowstorm yesterday with high winds and power outages. I always worry about the animals and birds in a storm and hope they survive.

Every morning I toss out some treats for the birds. There’s Juncos, Ravens and mainly the brightly coloured Blue Jays that stay around all winter and stop by the back deck.

The Blue Jays fly by the kitchen window to let me know they are hungry.

Here is one waiting on the back deck railing.

One Blue Jay landed and another about to land.

Your Blue Jays look lovely in the snow!

Thanks Keith. The Jays don’t seem to mind the winter weather. All is calm this morning with no snow falling. 😊

Oh love! The blue against the white of snow is so nice. We got snow as well. Not much yet, but it’s pretty.

Thanks Katrina. The snow is pretty. It’s staying above freezing so I don’t mind it.

What a pretty bird, very effective photography against the snow @redheadpei

Thanks Joan and thanks for stopping by. 😊

Howdy there redheadpei! oh man, I love the contrasting color of the Bluejays against the snow! These are wonderful pictures.

Thanks Cowboy. I’m glad you liked them. 😊 🐦

What a beautiful bird. I heard a lot, but I never saw a jay. Apparently we do not have them. I also noticed that even the sparrows are gone, but before there were so many of them.

Thanks @setik-001. It does seem there are not as many birds around as years ago. I wonder if all the insecticides and pollution are killing them as it has decreased the bees and butterflies populations.

Maybe you're right!
