Quick Self Portrait

in photogames •  7 years ago  (edited)

I'm no stranger to the self portrait. They're a lot of fun and I've taken many a photo of myself, either out of boredom or the fact that I don't have a lot of friends that like their photos taken. Plus when you want to test out lighting and no one is around, you're it. With all that said, this was done very quick as I had a busy week of work.

I will say though, most of my self portraits are all dolled up with makeup. This is me in my true state. No makeup, tangled hair, glued my computer. I spend the majority of my day hunched over at my computer. My job is a Camera Loader on tv shows, which involves taking the cards shot from the cameras and copying them to several hard drives that get sent to the editors. Soooo, I'm at my computer a large chunk of my day. And then I get home and sit at it editing photos or researching topics for projects.

I've been on a computer ever since the Macintosh II came out...So I guess that's my whole life. Hah.

Uh oh, deadline is approaching! Gotta wrap this up and post for the @photogames Self Portrait Contest....If you didn't notice, I've also been a procrastinator my whole life. But I never miss an assignment! ;)

Oh and I shot these with my 16-35mm lens. Instead of going with a deep Depth of Field as with most portraits, I wanted to be able to see my whole body and give a little warp feel. So I set it at 16mm and played. I look so tiny compared to the couch and even my computer and I LOVE it! Even if you don't have an interesting background or time to set up lights, a good lens choice can make a difference.

Unique! I am also a procrastinator that get things done when the pressure is high or deadline is near.

And cool pictures!

Ahhhhh I've never 'met' you before on Steemit, but I already like you! This is a very COOL self-portrait and it truly shows who you are. Those pants are amazing :D Thanks for sharing!

Haha love how tiny you look, these are great.

You have a PANAVISION HAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where did you get that?!?!?!

I actually got that one for free from one of the Panavision techs. I called him to come calibrate the Director’s monitors on set one day and he saw me wearing a Camera Division hat and one of my other camera assistants was wearing an Otto Nemenz hat (both are other camera rental houses in Los Angeles) and he said “we can’t have that!” So he goes to his car and comes back with two hats for us! They’re always carrying Panavision swag in their cars when they come to set, but usually it’s extra large t-shirts. Uugh. So I was happy to get the hat! ;)

SWEEEETTT!!!! That's a fantastic way to earn your Panavision Hat! I'm happy you got it and I am sure you deserve it too! Thanks for the background and cool story! Stay awesome!
