Generally I am more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it. So when I first read about the self portrait assignment I thought, no way!
But yesterday @jarvie gave a more users friendly definition of the assignment and I have to say he convinced me.

And so today on my way to my farm to work (that is what I do most of the days), I brought my camera and my tripod along and this is it!
Actually it was quite fun!
Although focusing was a bit tricky!

The first 2 are really great. I really like the flower one because you somehow look so out of place but it fits anyway. I keep looking at it :) The last one is nice too, but a bit less creative.

Well i think this traditional approach to self-portraits is wonderful!
Obviously #1 is the best shot and perhaps a great shot for a profile shot on Fb or Steemit if cropped in.
#2 is creative and kinda funny because guy with stoic expression and beard in a field of flowers is not typical. So i still like it.
#3 Is actually a decent choice for a profile picture. If it's for a square profile picture then cropped in it is a very solid choice as well. Also that tree is so cool. It has less artistic depth of field but still a great shot of you.
I think as self-portraits go the post did the trick. I think i understand you way better.

The tree was the reason I even made no 3 but I had to use large depth of field since I couldn't get the focus right, on myself that is. I agree with your observations, that's why I posted them in that order but it is always good to hear from an other point of view.

These are great, @fotostef! I especially like that first one, framed by the tree trunks. That's an unusual composition for a selfie; it's difficult to see an angle like when you're looking to photograph yourself. :)
