Friday Favourites Bonsai Rock Sunset 7.jpg click to view large

Show me your favourite Landscape Photograph

I shoot a lot of genres or types of photography but landscapes are by far my favorite. This is my favorite landscape photo that I've ever taken. There might be better crowd pleasers that I've shot but this is my personal favorite. I love how the warm light from the setting sun contrasts with blue clouds and the lake bottom. I love the snow on the boulders. I love that it's snowing in the distance. I love the location - Bonsai Rock, Lake Tahoe. Although I often try to break the "rule of thirds", I love how the photo complies with the rule and the composition looks great. Oh, and the sunburst! I love a good sunburst.

RULES & HOW TO PLAY

I want to see your favorite landscape photograph that you have personally shot. Please post it in the comments below along with a brief description about why you love the photo. One of my favorite landscape images. First of all I love twilight which means a twilight shot is perfect for my selection. Also we love certain images because of the stories and memories associated with it. This was an epic and super tough hike. Also a bit dangerous and a touch not legal. haha

I'm glad I got a great shot because I'm not sure when I'd be able to go again. But in any case I love it for all those reasons and because Hawaii is just awesome and I think I took a pretty solid picture.

Now technically I do have a shot I like a bit more but I'm saving it for a huge write up one of these days. But this one is right up there and is in my BEST SCENIC EVER collection on my website.

Yay, one of my favorite shots of yours!

You had me at "a touch not legal" Haha!!! 5 points have been added to your leaderboard. Incredible shot @jarvie! I look forward to seeing your actual favorite from this shoot...

What a great opportunity you had @jarvie which you took full advantage. You captured that picture, as we say in my country, -econdidito is better- because it took a great picture. Sincere congratulations, for sharing such a beautiful image.
Blessings and success.
See you soon.

Wow, great shot and difficult theme... I expect to see some huge entries here before the deadline :D

This is mine, taken during a winter photography trip to Norway with some friends. To be more specific I took this shoot from the Hamnoy bridge, Lofoten Island.

I love this shoot mostly because it remind me of that amazing trip and it’s a note to myself to plan another trip in Norway in the future ;)

landscape

That is stunning!

Thanks ;)

I love Norway and hope to go back just like you. Because you took this from above the little village it makes the mountains even more grand and magestic. The red houses really make the image pop and the white snow looks like icing sugar. What a "delicious" image.

Thanks a lot ;)

Wow really great picture. I really loved editing one like this during Fix it Friday. You really captured a scene that not many people will get to see. Thanks! I will enjoy it (and your other Norway pictures) till I make it on my own to Norway.

Thanks Sara !!

Hello @asgarth Wow, I should call her the soon return. It is a photograph that highlights the beauty of the whole context. I like what the mist of the waves looks like when they reach the shore, it seems that they are heard. Congratulations, regards.
Bendiciones y buena vibra.Título: -Pronto Regreso- Hermoso lugar.

Thank you very much 😊

This summer while at my mom's house I found my baby book. There was a section called "My Visits and Trips" and I learned that my 6th trip, when I was 8 months old, was to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons.

In May 2014 I went to Jackson for a work conference, I know how lucky. A a couple of friends came up to explore Yellowstone and the Tetons for a week afterwards. Do you think your heart can remember? I felt like I was connected to the place in a way I hadn't felt before. I felt alive with the beauty and world around me.

Then I went again with in October of 2017 and took this picture. I was just as magical or more cause there were fall colors and snow too.

certainly @sjarvie5 there are places that connect with our own interior, that when we return to them fill us with energy. In your photograph the trees, they seem to want to touch the clouds, beautiful photo. Congratulations.
Greetings and success.

Hi Angelica. Thanks for your kind words.

I get that feeling in the green rolling hills... it is like a calling. It is where I feel most at peace. We're trying to move there atm : )

Incredible story and photo @sjarvie5!!! That's so cool how you felt the connection there. I read your full post, successful trip! You got a ton of great photos there. Congratulations on the well deserved currie vote :) You also now have an additional 3 points that have been added to your leaderboard.

Great, thanks Scott and happy anniversary.

Greetings to all. This picture I love because it was the first time that Luna my dog saw the sea, and capture the feeling of Luna's joy when placing her legs in the sand when running, it was like the indescribable emotion of the first kiss of two lovers, a moment unforgettable that will be carved in the memory and this photograph. To appreciate in this photo the placid water, in play with the light of this beautiful sunrise, makes see that the water had movement and wanted to play with the shadow of the moon reflected on the shore of the sea. I like that effect. At the end there are some fishing boats that seem to rest in the photograph, since the place is an area of artisanal fishermen. I think that being in the right moment, at the right time and having good disposition and energy, are important ingredients to achieve a photo that will remain as an indelible mark. This photograph was taken in Venezuela, Guacarapo beach in 2016. With my phone camera. I call her little feet in the sand. Thanks for the opportunity @scottshots Blessings See you soon.
La vida es tan hermosa, que una fotografía capta los recuerdos que el tiempo a veces puede olvidar. L3M

That's a great story @angelica7! I love that Luna had so much fun playing at the sea. Thank you so much for commenting on everyone else's photos. Your great interaction with other photographers has earned you the "bonus side game" prize, 1 SBD will be transferred to you momentarily... Have a great day!

Hello @scottshots I really liked to participate and learn from everyone with their beautiful photographs. Each one from his lens captured not only excellent photos, but unforgettable memories that humbly shared here with you and that has great value.
Thanks to you for the idea.
Blessings.
Buena vibra, y que Dios los llene de buena energía, para continuar con esta hermosa tarea de fotografiar.

Thank you @angelica7! Glad you liked seeing all the photos and stories. Have a great day!

Awesome to see the bonus side game is still going to be played here! :) I remember this Bonsai Rock - it’s the same location where you shot the photo as an entry for a Water Wednesday right? And you won of course! ;)

Yes @itchyfeetdonica! It's a favorite regular spot for me and I have many photos of the rock. There are often other photographers there as it is a well known location on Lake Tahoe. A must see spot if you ever make it out to the area!

This is the last picture I took before leaving from Alonissos island in Greece. It was a very hot day, the sea had the most crystal clear water I have ever seen and I was craved a swim. Unfortunately I only had time for a couple of shots since I had to catch the ferry for my next destination, so these unfulfilled desire become part of this picture. Every time I look at it I imagine that I did had the time and enjoyed the sea and the sun as much as I wanted!

Hello @fotostef beautiful the color that the stones take, inside the crystal clear water and the sunlight. Opportunities are always seized at just moments. Saluditos and much success. Buena vibra y Bendiciones.

Thank you @angelica7!

Uluru Sunset
It is hard to choose a favorite landscape but I decided to go with my photo of the most iconic Australian landmark--Uluru (Ayers Rock). I went there for the first time in Jan this year with 3 good friends and the place really lives up to expectations. The many facets of this huge rock are so interesting and surprising. Doing the 10 km base walk under intense sun was an experience to remember! Sunrise and sunset are the best times to take photos of the rock because the sunlight does change the colour of the rock.

Genial @snooway reminds me of the tepuyes of my country, and there the value of a photo and what it produces when it evokes memories. You were at the moment taste, to photograph nature's gift. Successes and congratulations.
Genial @@@snooway me recuerda a los tepúes de mi país, y ahí el valor de una foto y lo que produce cuando evoca recuerdos. En este momento estabas de buen gusto, para fotografiar el regalo de la naturaleza. Éxitos y felicitaciones.

Thank you

That's so cool that you've been there!!!

Yes, I feel like it was almost surreal seeing it in person after looking at so many photos on websites and tourism material.

This is somewhere I've not been... and not really thought about going but maybe you're making me think about it now... lol. I usually like to escape from the heat though! :P

It was extremely hot but as long as you get up early it is bearable. We did the hikes at 7am then hid in the resort after lunch.

Hahaa... any reason why you went in January? That's madness, lol! Or is that a better time of year? I'd think about it in winter! :D

Cheap tickets! July is supposed to be the best time.

Oh okay... temp wise? Cheap tickets are always good!!

Winter has more bearable temperatures over there compared to summer which is around 42 degrees.

42 is becoming very normal here in Brisbane too... it's horrible!

That photo is beautiful... that is one I would hang on my wall! I love photos that keep you looking for more and more details and this does that for me. That water... MAGIC!

Thank you @jayclar30! I hope you enter the game and post your favorite landscape photo too...

You're very welcome!! : )
I have... I was working on it!

Here's my entry... sorry it's so long : /

I love this shot for a few reasons, mostly emotional connections. This is the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. This was always a bucket list location for me. I feel like I have a pull or a connection to the place but I don't know why. I couldn't wait to get there!! All I wanted to do was see it for myself. I wanted to live it, experience it and take in all it's natural beauty. I wanted to drive the drive because it is so amazingly beautiful and unique. And do it all before any more of these stunning limestone pillars collapse due to our harsh Southern Ocean conditions.

We had just two days to travel and explore the full length on the Great Ocean Road, most of it was miserable and raining : ( That didn't stop me though, I got out at every location, I walked every track, every beach and went to every lookout! On our last day, late in the afternoon... this happened... a glimpse of good weather joined us! The sun came out a little, not for long but long enough to get a couple of nice shots. The afternoon glow on the limestone was gorgeous, we were now seeing this marvel in a different light! It wasn't just the pillars though, it was the colour in the ocean, the colour in the sky with the lingering clouds and even the foliage, it all came to life! It was that perfect moment in my perfect location.

This one hangs on my wall, not this exact one but one with my husband and I in it : ) This photo, this moment was my tick off the list! In saying that though, I'd still like to return some day... : )

IMG_4949a13.jpg

Hello @jayclar30 I share your opinion the perfect place in the perfect moment where everything comes up. Beautiful your photograph, it looks like an oil painting that clearly highlights the imposing landscape, where it seems that time stopped, so that you could take the picture of your dreams.
Greetings and sincere successes.
Buena vibra y bendiciones. L3M

Oh thank you... yes! Those are magical moments when everything just seems to come together. It doesn't seem to happen often but when it does! xx

Felicitaciones @jayclar30 por tus 7 puntos, saludos.

Thank you @angelica7! : )

Love it

Thank you! : )

Beautiful photo and great story @jayclar30! Your persistence has paid off and has earned you first place in this game. 7 points have been added to your leaderboard. I love that you kept exploring despite the weather and that you eventually got this shot. And I love that you have a similar print hanging in your house to remind you of the accomplishment and to serve as a reminder that you'd like to return. Cheers!

Thank you @scottshots!!! :D
Hahaaa, I wasn't missing it for the world, I was there and I was doing it, lol, no matter what! I have a photo wall down my hallway, it's an extra wide hallway so it was perfect for this project. Where a lot of people would have family photos, their children etc, I have mostly places we've been, things we've done, things we've seen. : ) The kids have one photo each, although one of my sons is still missing on the wall : / I love having those memories to look back on, not just for us but for the kids too. : )

I also wanted to have a photo made with 100's of our photos on it, small obviously but still big enough to see and have it framed in one big frame. I still haven't gotten around to doing that one yet.

Nice @jayclar30! Sounds like a great hallway! We have one of those family photo hallways, lol!

Nothing wrong with that... I just went with a slightly different angle ; )
There's one each of the kids... that's enough right, lol. I didn't completely forget them! :D

I think that means your good, haha!

Hahaha... I've had no complaints, lol. Although the frames sat empty on the wall for a couple of years till I could decide what I wanted to put in them, so I think they were just happy that something was finally in them! : )

Oh man, it's hard to pick a favorite landscape!

This is one of Denali up in Alaska. The reflection is all done in camera with a flat 6x6 clear filter held tilted in front of the lens. Love how surreal it makes it look. I took it last May when I took a trip with my mom back home. I grew up in AK, so this photo is a nice reminder of home. My dad asked for a print, so I got one made for them in aluminum nice and big. Can't wait to see it when I visit next month!

DSC05117.jpg

Wow simply spectacular, beautiful photography. Congratulations @alevaskye
Buena vibra y bendiciones. L3M

It would look amazing as a large print hanging on the wall!!

Congratulations @alevaskye! This photo and story have earned you second place in this game and 6 points have been added to your leaderboard. I love how you get creative with clear filters, they always look cool but this one in particular really turned out awesome! I also love that your dad has a print of this, have fun on your visit!

This is my favourite landscape photograph I have taken. More because of how we felt when we were there. Its taken in Slovenia at Blake Bohinj, it was a cold November day but the sky was so clear and blue. Slovenia was such an amazing country and we felt so at home and at peace there, I loved how the stones leading into the lake were almost shaped like a heart.

Hola @vtravels bella fotografía, el agua imprime el deseo de sumergirse en ella.
Felicitaciones y éxitos
Buena vibra. L3M

Great photo @vtravels. I love how you say you felt at peace there, and that you found this heart-shaped formation while there! 2 points have been added to your leaderboard, thank you for playing!

Thank you so much @scottshots glad you liked it!

It is hard ) Usually, I tend to love my latest works more then the previous ones. I hope it is because I am progressing as a photographer :)
This one is from our last trip to Portugal.
The weather was changing from warm and calm to rainy and stormy. The massive cloud was moving from the ocean. When I got to Praia do Castelejo, I understood that, first, the light is just fantastic, the second, I was so late to search for the composition. I ran as fast as I could to these rock formations. Five minutes later everything was done. The light was gone.

Hola @dmytrokorol La luz en la fotografía, parece que llegó en el momento justo, para tomar el esplendor del lugar. Felicitaciones y éxitos. Buena vibra

Gracias, @angelica7!

Stunning image @dmytrokorol!!! I love that it was a rushed, last-minute shot but you still got this cool incredible photo. Your hard work has earned you 4 points that have been added to your leaderboard. Oh, and I totally understand about loving the latest works more than the previous ones, haha!

Thank you, Scott!

I love those moments... when you're there, they only last a moment but you get it in time! : ) Great image!!

This is my favourite landscape photograph:

I'm not a 'crowd pleaser' and I'm also not a tripod - sunset - long exposure shot landscape photographer. I find a scene, I decide I love it, and I take a picture. As long as it tells the story and shares my feelings of that place I'm often happy with the end result.

A short paragraph that I wrote in the original post:

I was already preparing the shot when I noticed the little boat on the Loch. I have not been able to figure out where the boat came from: the house was abandoned, I didn't see a car, and as far as I know there was no village or even a non-abandoned house in the area.

Especially the 'luck' I feel I have (you know, as a 'quick and dirty' photographer... I wasn't waiting for 'the perfect moment') had here in the fact that a boat decided to pass by just while I was taking a shot... Makes this one of my all time favourites :-)

Whenever I look at this picture I'm immediately back: last summer, the middle of the remote Northern Highlands, Scotland.

Genial @soyrosa each photograph has a special meaning for each one, but it can also describe the person who captures the photo. What you say you do not know where the boat came from, are the opportunities to be in the right moment and place, they take you to achieve that desired shot and take advantage of the moment, because you like it and it makes you happy. Greetings and blessings.
Buena vibra, éxitos y felicitaciones.

Thanks a lot @angelica7, that's very nice of you! :-)

Hey, your photo and story "pleased" me!!! 1 point has been added to your leaderboard. I love that you were lucky and got the boat in the photo too. I also love shooting without a tripod on occasion. It can be very freeing to work a scene that way. Thank you for playing!

Thanks a lot for giving the opportunity to share this picture, and appreciating it! :D

I love this... " I find a scene, I decide I love it, and I take a picture." This is me too! :D I'm never waiting for the right moment... the right moments have to come on their own. : )

:D
