Embers are hot burning materials formed from burning wood, coal, or other carbon materials that remain after, or sometimes precede, fire. Coals can burn very hot, almost as hot as the fires that form them. Coals emit heat after the fire is destroyed, and if not handled properly it can burn again and cause a fire.
