3D Scanning the World with a Camera and a Drone

Hello my name is Andre' and I'm glad to be apart of the Steemit Community.

About Me:

Im enjoying life with my 3 kids and wife Kim. My wife and I have been together since the 8th grade and life has been good to us. I'm a Network/Copier Technician by day and as a Hobbyist I'm crazy over Visual Effects, 3D Scanning and 3D Printing. I have a background in industrial engineering and have always been a tinkerer.

3D Scanning has become my passion for about 11 Months now. Creating a 3D Model can be achieved in many ways. The method I use is called Photogrammetry. Photogrammetry is a very inexpensive method that allows you to take photos of an object to create very accurate 3d Model representations. Reverse Engineering, Game Development, Visual Effects and Virtual Reality are some of the applications that utilize 3D Models, Meshes and Point Clouds to produce data sets.

Software Used:
3DSMax, Zbrush, Xnormals, Meshmixer, Reality Capture, Unreal Engine, Unity, Photoshop, 3dCoat, Autodesk Mixamo and a few more.

I use Sketchfab to display my work and Unreal Gaming Engine to bring my models to life with great textures and animations. By no means am I an expert but after 11 Months I have a firm graps on Modeling and the experience has been very fulfilling.

I use one Nikon Camera and a Phantom 3 Standard drone. I'm happy to share some of my fun.
