I took this picture of this enormous insect. It was moving in my neighbourhood on a wall as I came back with my daughter from the park. The photo was shot with my smartphone so the quality is not as expected but you can see the insect clearly.
This Insect is called a milkweed grasshopper and it can reach 80mm in size. When it feels threatened or disturbed it released a toxic noxious foam from its glands. It is actually very rare to see them where I stay here in Johannesburg . You find them here in south africa and they are common in the grasslands and on trees.
