DID YOU KNOW?: THERE IS A TRADITIONAL DAY TO TAKE DOWN CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS [POLL]

in photography •  7 years ago

Christmas is over and decorations start coming down, or should they?

Actually, January 5th is when Christmas decorations should come down... Or at least that used to be a tradition in the US. Did you know that The 12 Days of Christmas actually start on Christmas Day? In the states because of commercialism they think The 12 Days of Christmas starts on December 14.

So... when do YOU take down Christmas decoration?

When Do You Take Christmas Decorations Down?

A) The day after Christmas
B) On or before New Year's Day
C) January 5
D) When I feel like it!
E) I'm suppose to take all that stuff down?

I view it as, When can my fat ass get on the roof, with out falling off. Not due to me being lazy or fat, just as in the roof is slippery and I really do not wanna die.

On the 12th day of Christmas as the carol "12 days of Christmas". Isnt christmas day the first day of Christmas

That's what I thought too! but I found this in an article:
"The Twelve Days of Christmas is probably the most misunderstood part of the church year among Christians who are not part of liturgical church traditions. Contrary to much popular belief, these are not the twelve days before Christmas, but in most of the Western Church are the twelve days from Christmas until the beginning of Epiphany. (when the 3 wise men arrived with gifts to the new born Jesus Christ.)"
So according to this, it should be on the 5th because of the arriving of the 3 wise men on the 6th

I think the answer is, do it when you feel like it :-)

I agree!

I took down my Christmas decorations today :-)
