Looks like this year is a bumper crop for pears. Unfortunately it also looks like a bumper crop for poison ivy as well. I won't be sticking my arms in there to grab a pear, it is half poison ivy..heh..

Looks to me should kill the poison ivy first by uprooting it before you can make a harvest pear is it grafted how old is your trees before you made your first harvest?

I have never had a good harvest because the squirrels seem to love eating and knocking off tree. Every year I try to cut back some poison ivy by cutting down the runners but some are like 4 inches in diameter. The tree was here when I moved in and is huge. Probably 20 to 25 feet tall. I get a lot of fungus on the fruit trees.
