I'm really enjoying the idea behind steemit and the potential this site brings to putting information out for people to read. I'd like to start a marine species awareness thread or three specimens a week type deal just for people to notice some of our beautiful marine animals that are endangered or nearing extinction.
MARINE AWARENESS THREAD
For today I present you the Marbled grouper, Dermatolepis inermis. It's also known as donkey fish, they do look like goofballs don't they?
This species is another victim of increased over fishing throughout its habitat. It's found within the Atlantic Ocean, more common to the Caribbean but it's also found downwards through Rio de Janeiro. On top of being over fished, they are rare specimens to spot to begin with.
Here's a goofy picture of one courtesy of www.dive.nl with the help of google images!
I hope you enjoyed this and learned a little fact or two.
