A walk around the neighborhood

in photography •  7 years ago

It's been 10 hours now since I haven't had a cigarette. Well, more like 18 combined with my sleep but that doesn't really count since I usually don't smoke in my sleep.

I was getting really restless, my hands were getting really hot and sweaty and my feet as well and I felt like I had to go and do something. Going out felt like a real challenge cause that's when I usually smoke the most but I felt like it would be better than just staying inside and walking in a circle.

I took my last nicotine gum that I had from last summer's attempt and some money and went out before the sun had even gone up. As it was rising I decided to take some pictures since most of the past days have been so dark and you have barely been able to see any light.

There are the times where you wish you had a much better camera than the one on your phone.

I have to admit I thought of smoking a lot of times as I was out walking.

In the store as I was standing still while looking through some new nicotine gum I could feel my heart-rate was really high. I continued walking home and need to get back to some gaming now to keep my mind busy.

Hope you enjoyed these photos.

Yeah, enough is enough. ^^

Thanks!

You're welcome dude. I found that my addictions took hold of me the most when two things were happening - either life wasn't very challenging or I didn't have enough awesome things to look forward to (or both). Not sure if that helps but figured I'd throw it out there.

Good post

Awesome snaps man, this would be great in SteemitWorldMap I did a challenge to encourage users to contribute more and you can use #swmchallenge tag to enter after putting it on the map

the photos are amazing
congratzz on being strong to resist the most addictive addiction

Keep it up :)

Aahhh what a beautiful scenery for lighting one up, lol. Good shots by the way. I'm not sure if this tip will help you but the best way to overcome an addiction is by replacing it with another addiction (that might be less harmful). Video gaming is a start. Maybe working out and chewing gum might work too. I mean those are just a few things that come to my mind. I'm sure you can be more creative than me considering that you have been doing a great job writing on Steemit :)

Is it necessary to leave cigarettes to live a good life?
You know the answer. Don't you? Even, everybody knows.

After 3 weeks the nicotine is out of your body. Then it willbe easier. After 6 months comes a second wave of nor-adrenaline.... Just keep this in mind.

Celebrate your new nonsmoking life once in a while and do something special.

I keep my fingers crossed and wish you motivation, power and a consequent NO!

Wonderful shots btw

Congrats on this excellent step toward a better health. If you're going to be a Steemit millionaire, you'll want to live as long as possible to enjoy your wealth! I've never smoked, but I've seen people struggle to quit. I think it's a great idea to leverage the Steemit community for support and encouragement. I'm doing this for a daily exercise blog, and the accountability of others looking for my reports daily keeps me on the ball without fail. Feel free to join us if that'll be an extra boost in the right direction. Good luck!

Photos are really inspiring, may be the inspiration came from quitting smoke.

Keep trying it will pay off sometime

nice place,,,,,

Hooray for trying to quit smoking or at least minimizing it :)! I wish my dad does the same🙁. The lungs are very important organs.
On another note, I too, wish I had a better camera 😅

very beautifull photo

Well done dear friend!!!! Good work of avoiding addiction! There are so many things around us which can give us pleasure such as travelling, photography of natural beauty and admiring its glory etc. A habit can never be ended but it can be changed. Your post is really remarkable and I think there is a great lesson in this post. Thanks for sharing your story!!!!!!!

I follow you and I like.. Thank you . Upvoted.

quitting on cigarettes makes good photos! :)

Great shots and well done quitting, keep it up!

You probably know or have heard a dozen, erm a thousand times before - But please stop smoking ;)
I have seen young families torn apart by lung-cancer due to heavy smoke. You don't want to be that.
I was nearly throwing up when a 27-year old mother of a 3-year old told me she would never see her son going to school since she had lung cancer in a final stadium.
Think about it, please!

Really a very beautiful post

wow awesome photography

Stay strong @acidyo, I've not had a cigarette in 3 weeks, it gets easier!

Good decision not to start this project on January 1st...but still a huge task for you.

Me personally helped to quit only until the next cigarette. So for me it was easier to set short term goals than to confess myself never to smoke again.

The funny thing is....the desire for a cigarette only takes few seconds.. unfortunately very often a day.

I had my last cigarette approximately 14 days ago and still don't want a cigarette while writing about it :)

Wow... So beautiful picture, great photo shoot

Thanks for sharing. Gives me faith in humanity knowing that we all struggle with our weaknesses. Stay strong.

10 hours, 100, 1000.. you can stop with cigarettes. And these kind of places surely helps, cause are relaxing! Awesome shots by the way ;)

Thanks to the great photography for you to share such beautiful photos among us

totally awesome picture. i love ones like this

Glad that u quit smoking successfully (even though u still need nicotine gum at times. U will see the health benefits in the long run eventually! And it's worth it!

I really love your progress @acidyo and this a great way to ward off the urge to light another cigarette.

I also like how you went back to your old addiction of gaming, you will pull if off,day by day.

I wish I could also help my dad get off the addiction.
Nice photos over there.

You've got this, bud.

It's honestly the man or woman behind the camera. It's the eye, then the lens, and the body follows.

Also, check out my page if you have time. :)

poetic view. these pictures are perfect for writting some qoutes on it.

It is indeed very great and a good decision you took .Keep yourself busy in other things buddy !
and those are indeed nice images buddy ! the 1st Image and the last one is even more fascinating!!

So beautiful and romantic!!!

Once you get past the initial withdrawal it gets easy. Soon you won't even notice

@acidyo you have to understand smoking is very dangerous for your health but the view you post is very beautiful

I have to admit I thought of smoking a lot of times as I was out walking.

It's normal. And it's hard. At first you suffer and want to smoke. Some time after it will be much easier. As people say. Cause I can't give up smoking :(

Wow great photography...
And it’s really good that you are trying to quite it.
All the best for that :)

Some beautiful clicks. How many times do you somoke in a day?

Me - 10 to 12 :(

To get rid of addiction is a gradual process, i love the step you are taking.

wow nice photography sir!

buddy you have taken a nice step . wishing you more will power to get rid from smoking.
but sometimes smoking helps to reduce your stress.

Your phone did a nice job with the photo's, so pretty! And well done for pushing through those cravings, once you're on the other side you wonder why you ever craved them. I gave up too, after recently watching my uncle die of lung cancer. So glad you're smoke free, once you think about it, smoking is a fucking weird thing to do lol. Healthy lungs for us!!

Just keep going! You will succeed! But don't forget that you can only stop smoking, you will never quit!I used to be a heavy smoker and had given up smoking for 6 years. And I restarted. It's crazy. At a party I thought I can afford a smoke and in a few days I bought a whole package and...
Three years ago I exchanged smoking for vaping. But I should give it up, too. Just a bad habbit.
By the way, nice photos!

10 hours... 11..12.. 1 day, 2 days, 1 week, 1 month...

Hope you get through this. Smoking never really had a good effect. Best of luck!

And nice photos too...

Nic post

Very beautiful scenery,,,!
I like it very much. hopefully i can see it directly.

You should try mindfulness, it could help a great deal by de-programing your brain's addictive behaviour.
Do you live in Sweden btw?

sunset so beautiful

Do it now acidyo, not like I did it on November 28th 8pm when the taxi came to my house to take me to the airport to fly me to a town 170 miles away, so I could check into a hospital and have the top half of my left lung removed because of cancer. I have not smoked since then. That's a tough way to quit smoking. So stick with it. Keep trying, do not give up. Just make a deal with yourself to simply not buy any more.

Good work @Acidyo!! I know you can quit smoking! Also nice pics, aaand getting up before the sun rises isn't too hard in Finland these days ;)

Beautiful pictures! Smoking is a tough one to quit, I've tried. Highly addictive, and the withdrawals are not easy. Depression, and mood swings are the worst for me. I can't seem to get it out of my head! I wish the best of luck to you. Hopefully you are stronger than I, and can make through!

That's awesome I'm almost at my year mark. Good job

Taking the first step is often the hardest. I wish you all the courage and strength.

Good luck buddy.

Did you edit the pictures somehow?

congratulations to you, you have acted very positively we can enjoy the results. thank you for sharing

lovely photos bro @acidyo ...what phone is that bro?
I know that feeling bro, its not easy to let go. but i liked the way you handled it, at the end thats what counts the most bro @acidyo

Stay strong, dude. I know it's tough but you're really making the best choice here by trying to quit. Smoking will fuck your life up later on, I learned that after watching my parent slowly become disabled due to her lungs not functioning properly. Just keep yourself occupied whether it's by gaming or something else, make sure you've got your gum and don't be around people who smoke if you can help it. You'll get through it this time, dude.

Also, the pictures are pretty dope. You seem to find some really great places to take photographs pretty often. Maybe you should look into getting a DSLR or something if photography is something you'd like to do more often as a hobby, man.

Keep writing about this @acidyo.
It's really something special and we are all here to support you!

Wow!

Amazing skies look like painting...

😍😍

Keep your will power strong, you can do it. Give up the smoke and be happy friend. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful pictures and post. Good luck.

Looks like you are so far successful in keeping away that bad habit. It will be tough, no doubt. But do not crack .

Definetly enjoyed your pics. Keep on, stay hard. We believe in you!

You can do it, dude and after that you'll hate it more than all of us!

I used to smoke for like years and i noticed that my skin becomes dry and after i smoke cigarette i feel like throwing up, i don't know maybe because of the mentol. It makes us old, But smoking makes me relaxed atleast when im so stressed especially when the sun is going down and the wis turning a lil bit cold that's the best time for me to smoke it makes me stop and think.

p.s, this post was kind of a senti for me 😂

This view is just too beautiful, most times i like to just get out and admire nature. We are truly best.

Great photos, they were captured passionately.

It's a choice, you soon can stop it completely coz you're doing it.My mother smokes, doesn't listen to any advice, she wanted to stop but couldn't and we gave up on her.
