I have taken a break from continuing my collection of picture essays on Nepal... I visited Kathmandu in 2014 just before the devastating earthquake. Sometimes I wonder how much of what I had seen is left. And I am glad I visited when I did.
Bhaktapur ~ outside Kathmandu, one of three ancient Newar cities in Nepal besides Kathmandu and Patan, also suffered heavily during the April 2015 earthquake. The Durbar square is on UNESCO's world heritage list.
Maybe I'll get to go again... Meanwhile, here are more of my Snapshots of Nepal ~ featuring Bhaktapur.

Funny story here: I twisted my ankle 2 days before travel to Nepal, so I was hobbling all along the entire trip on a walking stick - that's my story for this awkward shot!
There was a festival on-going at the square in front of the temple while I shot this, which explains the kids and youths perched up high here...
This is a personal favourite. We were just strolling the streets of Bhaktapur and looking for souvenirs when I found myself behind this lady and her baby. So as things go, one thing led to another and that’s how I got this photo! Isn’t she cute?!!
