Snapshots of Nepal ~ 5: Pashupatinath Hindu temple complex in Kathmandu, NepalsteemCreated with Sketch.

in photography •  7 years ago

Pashupatinath, the largest Hindu temple complex in Nepal, and also one of four most important religious sites for the devotees of Lord Shiva in Asia, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.

The Bagmati River runs through the temple complex and is the site for cremations along its banks.

Here are some shots I took at Pashupatinath.

Another souvenir stall near the entrance of the Pashupatinath where you’ll find items such as woven wall hangings, traditional print table cloths, bed covers, statues of Hindu deities and Lord Buddha, wood carved and bronze & brass molded souvenir items.
Definitely a souvenir collector’s haven!

Show Me The Money!
Yogis or sadhus are such colourful characters… Found this group within the grounds of the temple, and when I moved to take a picture, they promptly asked for payment! With some covering their faces when I didn’t… Oh well, thank goodness for zoom…

Love the first photo... it's so colorful... and it's a big contrast with those black and white photos below... Did you share the first photo in tsu before?

Thank you, Eliza! :) Yes, so many interesting facets of Nepal, and in fact wherever we travel... Black and white tells such a different story than the colour shots!

Yes, I think I may have shared in tsu before, or another version... I have a few different shots! :)

Black and white has a different feel... I don't use to like black and white photos... But started to like them since Monochrome Monday theme from tsu time...

Good! We have Monochrome Monday here too... Hope to see you there... :)

Interesting photos. I've never been to Nepal before.

Thank you, Alvin! You should... even after the 2015 earthquake, many still say it's worthwhile to visit... :)
