A Serendipitous Collision in the Redwood Forest

California is home to many interesting trees.

It hosts the Grand Sherman tree in Sequoia National Park - the largest tree in the world measured by volume.

It also has the Methuselah tree which is a bristlecone pine tree - the Oldest Tree in the World at 4,765 years old.

It has the tallest tree in the world, the Hyperion, which is found the Northern Coast.

The trees in the photograph here are nowhere near the breadth or height of the aforementioned wonders. They're all cousins, however, as they're all of the pine genus. On this day, these normal redwoods are the stars because of the serendipitous collision of events that created this scene - A passing sun and mist.

Have you seen any of the trees mentioned above?

Love your photoshoot! The tallest tropical tree is actually found in Borneo island, where my hometown is. :) It is found in Danum Valley with a height of 94.1 meters!!

This tree isn't tropical and it's the tallest in the world at 349 feet = 115.72 meters :) but I'd love to check out Borneo! I grew up not far from there in Negros Occidental in the Philippines :)

I know the tree is from California and is the tallest in the world :) Just thought it will be interesting to share the tallest tropical tree as well!

wow what a beautiful picture..i like the way how sun rays penetrates to the floor

Lovely!

Beautiful nature

Stunning.

Nothing greater than the sun illuminating the trees. Great shot, and thank you for the comment on the giants that bring us so much wonder.

I’m very fond of this photo. It’s an interesting combination of serenity and mystery. And you did a nice job working it to make sure you didn’t lose detail being backlit.

wow! an amazing photo! love it. I haven't personally seen any Californian redwoods, (or the mighty record breakers you mentioned) however I recently travelled to New Zealand, where in a town called Rotorua you can 'walk among the redwoods' in their redwood forest. Cousins to the Californian variety and very majestic as well!

Makes me want to visit NZ!

Really really nice shot!!

Awesome!!! Very nice image of nature. Love it.!!

Love the random tree facts. Also nice rays!

A grove of Aspens in Utah is thought to be the largest living organism in the world (because of how aspens grow connected underground to eachother)

Yeah, I've heard of this.

Wow, awesome picture! I absolutely love the diversity of California. I was blown away when I went to the Sequoias. You live in a pretty beautiful place. 🌻

Well, now I've moved to another pretty and beautiful place...Washington State! 20 Years is plenty for California :)

I've never been but I could only imagine! The west coast overall seems pretty beautiful. 😁

Oh I love a nice tree shot but this is something else! That glare (not sure if correct term) is really gorgeous! Nice edit in your photograph as well - plenty of tones.

Congrats for the shot!
