Salt Landscapes

This is the salt flat, Badwater, in Death Valley. It's not the largest in the world. That title belongs to the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. Nonetheless, these landscapes look otherworldly and worth a photograph or two.

If you do visit...Be careful. This spot has the highest ever recorded temperature on the planet! You can fry an egg just on its surface. The good news is, you only need pepper!

The land of magic

Cool photos, tipuvote! 0.1

thanks!

Very cool, I wonder how the bumps of, I presume, salt (?) are formed

It's formed when the playa dries up and when the water evaporates the polygonal cracks appear.

ahh I see I see, very cool!

I like your post. Technology is very fine.

awsome post very cool

Such incredible photographs, i cant wait until i get to witness this place one day!

Badwater is so much fun to shoot. Beautiful photos but that little rainbow is quite the score. I don't think I've ever seen a rainbow photo from there before. Bravo!

I've seen it a couple times but that was a decade ago!

Nice.

Nice your post.

These photos are so wonderful! I can’t even imagine seeing such landscapes in real life. Thanks for sharing!

this pictures made my day dear😊 they are awesome💜. your photography is just awesome. Thanks for sharing this awesome post with us dear

This is amazing! The photos are great and the salt gave me connotations to ice, so when you say it's the hottest place on earth it came as a surprise because it doesn't look so hot. I really like the shape and patterns of the salt. :) Helen

It's more awesome in person :)

I bet! Like most beautiful things :)

Wahoo it's pretty cool! I did go to the death valley when I was 16 I can't quite remember, just that it was indeed very hot, but I believe it was very very dry as well.
In Australia we've seen twice now salt lakes, one in the red centre in the desert and the other one is South Australia, this lake was of a pink color, was really cool for photos!

My wife and I were just talking about returning to Death Valley. Im going to have to visit the salt flats on our next drive up!

I'll have to my pilgrimage there as well!

Looks so cold and yet is so hot. Looks really can be deceiving. I love the way nature favors the hexagon, but the wind and the water have moved things around a bit.

It doesn't look like that now I think. You'll have to wait another few years for the hexagons to form.

I suppose it needs long bouts of stillness:)

Buenas noches ! excelentes fotos amigo !! de donde soy cruzando el golfo hay también una mina de sal el lugar donde se encuentra se llama ARAYA específicamente en VENEZUELA estado SUCRE. un desierto en el medio del caribe

Stunning! When researching where to travel to next, beautiful photography will often help make up your mind.

Sadly, the photography sometimes surpasses the physical beauty of the location, and that unfortunately, can lead to disappointment. But, Death Valley is one of those places where no matter how skilled the photographer’s craft, the reality is always just as amazing.

Thanks for these amazing reminders of one of the world's most geographically stunning places @adonisbril …. BEAUTIFUL.

Beautiful, especially the one with the rainbow!

I'm not a pro but I've often been warned that having the horizon near the border isn't good for the composition. Even though the salt lakes were probably vastly more interesting than the sky (which I presume was pretty cloudless). Would be nice to zoom in on the mountains, especially with that light!

Yeah the thought occurred to me and I don't often break these rules, but one of my favorite Large Format landscape photographers often crop images this way, more of a tribute but you'll never see these kind of compositions from my other photos. Excellent observation!

wow.. me gusto!! llevare pimienta y par de huevos si llego a visitarlo jajajaja te invito a leerme saludos! Nos Leemos Luego....

Wow I really can't believe there are places made of salt like that. I'd love to go there but the heat seems pretty insane. I wonder how it'd be during the winter.

Worth a pic or two? I would take at least 30 lol

the problem is I shot these with film...that would be very expensive!

Ouch, I get it now. I agree!

Salt land....have never seen or heard of this landscape b4 thanks for sharing

wow.

These are beautiful photos. The forces of nature are impressive ... so I think I prefer cooking my eggs on the stove :)

Amazing photography and fascinating place - definitely other worldly. What time of year do you recommend 'safest' time? And what time of year did you capture these gorgeous shots?

For these photos, Mamiya 645

Beautiful pictures, especially with the little rainbow that made your picture flawless

Beautiful pictures! Such a different landscape. I noticed that your background picture probably is taken in the Lofoten, are you Norwegian? We are traveling with our hostel on wheels in the North of Norway, if you ever want to drop by for a cup of coffee let me know :)
