One sunny afternoon in Intramuros, Manila
Intramuros is a Spanish term that literally means “within the walls”. It's the oldest district in Manila. It was also heavily damaged during the World War II.
Intramuros went under reconstruction and restoring to preserve all its ruins from the WW II.
With its reconstruction, it now houses several old Spanish-era influenced buildings, schools, and churches.
Palacio Del Gobernador. Used as an air-raid shelter during World War II.
Street along Intramuros
Calesa/Kalesa is a horse drawn carriage, a mode of transportation during Spanish Colonization. Now, kalesa's are used to cater tourists who wants to roam around Intramuros.
Baroque style interior of San Agustin Church.
Sadly, the Church's facade is under construction when we visited.
Manila Cathedral or "The Church of Manila" Underwent repairs and renovation in 2012 and reopened back in 2014.
Romanesque style architecture of Manila Cathedral
some couples choose Manila Cathedral for their wedding not only for its classic style, but it has a long grandeur aisle for the bride's walk down the altar.
Casa Manila Museum represents the colonial lifestyle during Spanish conalization.
Casa Manila in Plaza San Luis, was named after the original Barrio in Intramuros. It now houses a restaurant, souvenir and gift shop.
Rajah Sulayman Theater is an open air theater located in Fort Santiago. It's also PETA's former home.
inside Fort Santiago. It houses preserved legacies during the Spanish Colonization.
Hundreds of civilians and guerillas were imprisoned, tortured and executed that time including our National Hero, Jose P. Rizal. You can also see onto the ground Jose Rizal's footsteps that represent his final walk from his cell to the location of his actual execution.
Intramuros houses ruins of what happened during the World War II, but also represent the Filipino's resilience during that time and up until now.
