photographing graveyards.

One of the places I love to take photographs is in graveyards, there is something peaceful there. Foggy mornings or as the sun begins to set are great times to get the more dramatic images but I walk around them at all times. I've had a fascination for wandering around looking at graves since I was young but love the older graveyards most for the veriety of headstones you find.

There is a lot of history sometimes on those headstones. I remember a class field trip when I was in High School, (doubt they do it any more), bet we went to an old grave yard are were told to make a charcoal casting of a headstone, then to write a story about it. I went to a rather progressive high school back then.

I just noticed this: I don't have a real good grasp of the paint programs, but I tried to line the shape:

I've never noticed that before but now you've highlighted it it's so obvious.

I love old cemeteries for their interesting headstones. They tell family stories. I like to see them well kept as a tribute to the families that have loved ones there.

You've captured that "peaceful" air nicely here ... but I can easily imagine how eerie they could look in certain conditions as well.
