The Caraiman Monastery, a corner of heaven in Bucegi Mountains

in photography •  7 years ago

As I told you in my latest post, last weekend I was in a trip at mountain, and on this occasion I visited the Caraiman Monastery, which is located on the Prahova Valley, in Busteni.

I went to the monastery through the forest and it was quite difficult because it was snow and the stairs were slippery and the wooden rail was not very stable. Moreover, the weather was not very pleasant, but because I was in this town, I wanted to visit this monastery again.

The path is not difficult, it takes 15-20 minutes, depending on the physical condition of everyone. Sometimes you have to stop to admire the forest or to rest a little after the effort, as you want :D. I also saw older people going on this path, which is not so easy, but not so difficult as well.

Because the stairs were full of ice and snow, I went with difficulty, and after about 20 minutes I got to the Caraiman Monastery.

The beauty of the place overwhelm you as you get here. The monastery is fenced with a massive, high-rise fence. The feeling is overwhelming, the mountains seem to watch over those who come here to pray, the sky is incredibly beautiful, and the bells make your heart trembling. It is a holy place that brings you peace.

When you enter the monastery's gate, you are embraced with peace . It's like you do not want to leave. You want to keep eternally living in those moments.

Looking at all that deep and pleasant peace makes you have a stunning feeling all over your body.

And there were a lot of people who were coming to the monastery, walk through the forest or on the road with the car. Being Sunday morning, the courtyard of the monastery was full of locals or tourists coming to pray.

Caraiman Monastery is located in a valley surrounded by firs, away from the urban noise. The architectural ensemble has many transformations during the past years. Here can be seen the sanctums of the monks.

From the monastery you can buy icons, candles, postcards etc.

Separately from entering the church is the tree with icons, where people can enter to pray. There is also a small spring from where you can take clean mountain water.

Also in the courtyard of the monastery you can enjoy a small zoo. Children have the opportunity to see bunnies, swans, pony and pheasants.
